All excellent, including their recommendation for the restaurant next door. Good location, very comfortable. We hand washed a few things and took advantage of the small clothesline on one of the balconies.
Our room was spacious and comfortable and quiet. Beds were excellent. We enjoyed the roof terrace, where breakfast was also served - great view. Our host was very helpful. This is an excellent location in the city of Agrigento - right in the heart of the restaurant and shops area.
Very pleasant, efficient and helpful receptionist provided maps, bus advice, timetables and dining suggestions. Large bedroom with balcony overlooking the valley of the temples. Comfortable beds. Rack for clothes. No kettle or drink making facilities. Bedrooms are located on the third floor, a total of about 50 steps from the road, there is no lift.
A good continental buffet breakfast served on the terrace with very good views of the valley of the temples some distance below. Easy access to the terrace and bedroom at all hours. There is a fridge set aside for guests to use in the reception area. The PortAtenea B&B is about 3-400m from the bus station on a level route and is closer to the railway station, although that is on a steady incline. The bus stop to the valley of the temples and the coastal resorts is only 200m away.
Hotel offers 5 rooms at the end of Agrigento's Main Street. All basic comforts are provided to 3 star level. Spectacular views across the Valley of the Temples to the sea beyond both from our balcony, as well as the roof terrace above.

Very close to the central station, this B&B has a great location. Many restaurants nearby as well. The room was much smaller than the photo and although it said rooms come with balcony, there was none. This was important to us so we were very disappointed to find this out after checking in. When we asked, they said not all rooms have it which made us double check our booking and it sure said our room comes with it. We were only staying for a day so didn't want to make a big deal. The room condition wasn't the best but considering it was B&B, understandable. Breakfast was simple yet very good.
Cozy little inn. Clean and safe. Parking a challenge, but success with a little patience. Room was simple, with all the basics. Location was excellent, close to fantastic food and nightlife. Good value for the cost.
We stayed one night just to see the temples and museum. Unfortunately we arrived on a Sunday and the latter was closed after 1pm. The B&B is well located, close to bus and railway stations (bus is best and quickest) The room was clean and more than adequate for our needs. Sandra the owner speaks good English and was extremely kind and helpful. She is not on-site all the time so it is essential that you take note of her check-in times (am & pm) and let her know in advance when you are going to arrive.
Great location, very nice staff, fabulous roof-top
Apart from the climb up a long flight of stairs to get to the B&B, all was perfect. The rooms are spacious and clean, beds comfortable, breakfast very good with many home made treats and preserves. The young woman who helped us was very kind and cheerful. Sandra, the owner speaks English, the young woman spoke a bit, enough to help us. The location is very nice, on the edge of the pedestrian street, in front of a charming square. It is a place I wish we had spend more time.
This was the second year that we stayed at PortAtenea and we were every bit as delighted as the first time. We like the location, just outside the old center, on a pleasant piazza, and near convenient parking. Our room was large and beautifully furnished. The breakfast is excellent and all the staff are very pleasant and helpful.
We went to Agrigento to visit the Valley of the Temples. The city of Agrigento is nothing to write home about, but the B&B Portatenea is located in the old city near a pretty square where we were able to easily park our rental car. You can see the Temples from their roof top bar. It is owned by a very nice young couple and they are doing a good job promoting the various other sites around the city in addition to the Valley of the Temples. A taxi to the temples is about 15 euro.
This B&B exceeded all our expectations--the location was perfect; the rooms we aesthetically pleasing and very clean; the breakfast was excellent; the bed was super comfortable; and the owners were accessible and provided travel info both before and during our stay. It was easy to access the Valley of Temples from this location by bus, and even more so by taxi. This is a wonderful place to stay in Agrigento! I would also recommend the bakery at the end of the street--a real taste of the town with very kind owners! If physical mobility is limited, be aware that there is no elevator so accessing rooms and the lovely rooftop terrace is by stairs only.
This was a great place to stay as it’s right on the junction of the main street of the town (Via Atenea) and the quiet pedestrian street Via Cesare Battisti. It’s easy to find: just turn to your left when you leave the railway station. It’s only a short walk but you may need to reserve some energy to negotiate the first couple of flights of stairs when your reach the BB itself. Our room was delightful with a balcony opening onto Via Cesare Battisti. It was well-appointed and comfortable.
We found everyone working there very helpful and were able to get a city bus very cheaply and conveniently to the Valley of the Temples (remember to buy your tickets first at a Tabacchi).
Breakfast on the roof-terrace was a delight but a 9.30 end of service was a little too early for our liking. Overall, we’d stay again.
Had a fantastic time here, they were helpful finding parking (thankfully available on the street for free on Sundays), great buffet breakfast and it is close to everything. Really enjoyed the service and wish we could have stayed here longer. In other areas of Sicily, my partner and I felt a bit uncomfortable - but no problems here, they were very welcoming. :)
No elevator, 2 flights of steep stairs, very hard work with 20kg luggage. Room good and large, bathroom ok, hotwater only warm. Brekky good, no hot food.
We were very warmly welcomed by the owners and they were very keen to please. We had a lovely room with unusual, artistic decor We had access to their roof terrace to chill and read which was very pleasant. It was a good location as in the main street, near the bus and train station. Easy to reach the valley of the temples. They even gave us advice on local attractions, places to eat and transport to our next place.
Our room was very large. The location is great; right on the main shopping street and close to train and bus stations. Owners and staff very helpful. Soundproofing excellent. Everything worked!
Only cons were very long climb up stairs and unreliable wi fi.
This B&B was great! It is 5 min from the bus terminal and is right off a park and main shopping road. The B&B is on the 2nd-4th floors of the building and there is no elevator but the owner came down to help with the luggage when we buzzed the reception area. The room we had was large and fairly new. It was very quiet at night because there are double windows with a saranda in between which also was a great light blocker. Breakfast was good being able to sit on the roof terrace overlooking the Valley of the Temples in the distance. Eventhough breakfast was smaller, there was yogurt, mini canolli, a different fresh fruit every day, juice, and some delicious croissants. The people who own it live on the 2nd floor and were very helpful and accommodating. There was no phone in the room and the TV channels were all fuzzy but other than that it was a lovely place to stay and I would definitely stay there again. We were there for 3 days. The owners were also accommodating when we had to check out but our bus didn't leave till 6 pm. They gave us keys to the main door and reception door so we could go sit on the roof terrace to read and wait. They also let us leave our luggage in the reception are as well. It was very clean and nice. The shampoo/soap packets were a little bit small for me with my long hair but I had my own so it wasn't a problem. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it to all my friends and family. Room also had an A/C, a must for the south even in Sept.
