Very central location. Check in was a bit confusing but it worked out in the end. If you want something quiet, this is not the place for you. There are many bars around that play music until late night. I only met the staff for my check out but they were extremely helpful over the phone and email.
The hotel is as the name suggests, is basic. The worst aspect, and one which should stop anyone from booking here, is the presence of two nigh clubs downstairs. We were on the fith floor, and coule hear everything all night even with ear plugs in- there was no prior warning of this, and especial odd as they provided the ear plugs! The staff are curtious and helpful, which was the upside of having 4hours of sleep.
Overall, the stay was ok. The young woman who checked me in was very nice and recommended some places to visit. The room was clean and the size was as I expected. Unexpectedly, the TV was the best I have had in any hotel stay this year.
I thought it was odd that there was a set of earplugs on the desk in the room. Having not read the reviews carefully enough, I had no idea the hotel was over a night club. The noise was not expected. Luckily, I was at the back of the hotel on the 4th floor and that muted some of the noise however I could still identify some of the songs being played. For safety reasons, I do not like to sleep with two earplugs however there was no choice and they actually did block out the noise. However you cannot wear earplugs and relax watching some tv before bed and the beat from below was distracting.
Was it a horrible experience? No. Would I stay here again? Probably not which is too bad as everything else was fine with the hotel and location.
The standard was good, but I found it unacceptable and against data protection standards that my name was publicly listed on the entrance door to the hotel in full view for passera-by. Apart from this all was good, and I liked receiving a code for the door.
The name describes the property perfectly. It is a basic hotel room for one night in Bergen. Clean and close to the harbor area and public transportation.
DONT STAY HERE!!!!!!
Unless you want to party until 3am which is the time the bar beneath will stop playing their earth shattering loud music. The hotel even puts out ear buds beside the bed.
I travelled a lot, and lived in both budget/economic hotels and some times high-standard/luxurous hotels. I am not a picky person, and seldom complain. But this must be one of my worst hotel experiences. 1) Though the hotel is close to the city center and there are good kafes og restaurants just nearby, the hotel locates in the same building as a night club! The heavy music lasts till 2:00 til 3:00 at night!!! Even though the hotel provides ear plugs, this does not help much. 2) no service. There is no room service. I understand this is a simple hotel, but when you pay over 1000 NOK per night, and it is called 'hotel', you expect more. 3) no/bad equipment: The only coffee machine at the second floor was out of order (it seems no one tried to fix it). When you were just out of shower, you also found that the hair blower in the bathroom did not work.

The other reviews are true- there is extremely loud music every night. I thought it wouldn’t be an issue because I’m a born and raised New Yorker, but the music comes in through the windows and shakes the walls and I was on the 3rd floor. I was able to sleep after a while because I was exhausted, but I definitely would not recommend this place to anyone with trouble sleeping. The music STARTS at 11pm and goes at least until 2:30 am. I guess the hotel tries to make up for it by giving earplugs, but who wants to sleep with earplugs!? It’s obvious that the owners and employees of both the club and the hotel have never tried to sleep in one of the rooms, otherwise there is no way they would allow this to happen every night. Also the reception desk is supposed to be open until 11 pm but it was closed by 5 pm or so on both nights I stayed there. On top of this, they tried to charge me double for the room, not realizing I already prepaid- I think this was an honest mistake though. The location is great however and the room is a nice size (no housekeeping service). I would only recommend this place to someone who can sleep through anything and only if you are saving a significant amount of money over the next cheapest hotel.
