Welcome to Ullr’s Treehouse, a charming, small, 1,400 sq. ft. eccentric retreat, spread over four distinct levels with roughly 350 sq. ft. per floor. Nestled against Chugach State Park land and just two miles from Alyeska Resort Daylodge, this unique, hexagon-shaped cabin offers a forest escape while still being close to Girdwood’s attractions, including Girdwood Park Playground & Skate, just 1.5 miles away.
With log cabin-style walls and an oversized hot tub and gazebo, you’ll feel connected to nature whether you’re soaking outdoors or enjoying the warm glow of the gas fireplace indoors. True to its Treehouse name, this four-story retreat rises into the trees, offering a cozy perch among the evergreens. While the living spaces are designed to be cozy intimate, the multi-level layout allows your group to find their own little corner to relax. Just be ready to summon your inner mountain goat for the four flights of stairs!
The third-floor loft-style primary bedroom, with a bed nestled under the sloped ceiling, features forest views, a small private outdoor alcove with seating, and an en-suite bathroom. The first-floor guest bedrooms are a snug 140 sq. ft. Though smaller in size, they provide a restful space for unwinding after a day of adventure. Note, that the communal entrance to the back is through the exterior door of one of the bedrooms.
The compact kitchen on the second floor is well-appointed with everything you need to cook and enjoy meals. Just steps away, a bonus area with a leather sectional and TV offers a convenient place to relax on the second floor. Head down to the basement, where you’ll find leather recliners, stereo, second TV, PlayStation 4, and a private washer/dryer, making this level a fun and functional hangout space.
Outside, lounge on one of the outdoor decks, grill some delicious food, or take a dip in the large hot tub backed up to the over grown, old-growth, state forest land. Although there are neighbors on each side of Ullr’s Treehouse, the back of the property is serene and magical. Out the door adventure awaits, on a small 0.25 mile trodden path behind the house that joins up with Beaver Pond Trail, connecting you to downtown Girdwood. Out front, the paved and lighted Alyeska Multi-Use Pathway runs parallel to the Alyeska Highway, extending from the Seward Highway to the Hotel Alyeska. Not wanting to drive? Call Glacier Valley Transit to pick you up and drop you off at the bottom of the driveway, along the Alyeska Highway.
Whether you’re visiting for summer hikes and biking through lush green rainforests, salmon fishing down the road at Bird Creek, or coming for winter ski trips, with stops at the Alyeska Nordic Spa, this small uniquely designed retreat offers everything you need for a memorable stay. And if you’re lucky, Ullr himself may bless your visit with a legendary Girdwood snowstorm—because if there’s one thing this Norse god knows, it’s how to send the perfect powder day your way.
