Great hotel near the Asahikawa Station and the Aeon Mall, which was convenient for the Asahikawa Snow Festival (or would have been if I hadn't booked the week before the festival :-) ). The hotel is also, extremely conveniently, in front of a bus stop that comes straight from the airport. Simply stay on the bus until the stop after the station and step into the hotel.
For Japan, the size of the twin room is _massive!_ Plenty of room for luggage, clothes storage, and potentially cricket practice (please don't play cricket in your hotel room :-) ). The raised bathroom is, however, the standard 'small' size for a Japanese hotel room, but is perfectly servicable.
There's plenty of food options nearby with the main shopping street only a block away (which leads off from the train station), and the Aeon Mall's food court and restaurants are a five minute walk away.
