Cannot recommend. For the price-point, there are MANY other options. After several weeks in Japan, we hoped for a couple of days of serenity by the sea, soaking in a private onsen; however our experience was far from relaxing.
On the plus side, the hotel room was lovely, with modern design and comfortable bedding, and the breakfast buffet was extensive.
But 3 things detracted from our experience:
1. There is MAJOR construction happening on both sides of the hotel property, and will be ongoing for many months – the hotel did not tell us this. The jack-hammering began at 8:30 am and continued until 5pm, so use of the private veranda and hot spring tub was very noisy and unpleasant.
2. The design of the veranda space somehow amplifies the street noise from below, again making the outdoor space unpleasantly noisy. Our room was on the 9th floor – well away from the busy road, yet we heard the racing cars as though we were right beside them.
3. While the hotel is striving to be “5-star”, the service level from the staff is not up to 5-star standards. For example, there was no concierge service, and the front desk staff didn’t seem to know when their own restaurants were open for dinner. When we were finally able to make a reservation, we were told that we needed to order our meal the day ahead (no explanation why), and the only choices were from 3 very expensive fixed-price menus. As small eaters, we hoped to order a la carte but were told that wasn’t possible. We ate elsewhere.
