If lazing around a sun kissed pool is your thing, with an occasional stroll up to the bakery or the ice cream maker, and with a selection of restaurants almost literally at your doorstep, then you'll feel at home in Maison Fleurie. Equally if, like us, you're "blessed" with young children that need occupying come rain or shine, you're well catered for, with a shallow river beach a short walk away, a private paddock for kicking a ball around, table football and table tennis for those rainy days, home gym facilities for some me time, an extensive DVD library and a variety of toys and games to keep them amused during those rosé-soaked lunches on the balcony.
Ours is a charming family house in what is officially one of the most beautiful villages in France, sleeping 14 adults/children*, with an additional 3 cots for infants. It is the perfect entertaining space for large extended families or groups of friends, with flexible accommodation organised as follows:
House on Street level (sleeps 8): 3 double bedrooms 1 twin bunkbed room, 1 family bathroom with bath and shower; 1 additional WC; snug/TV room; open plan sitting room / dining room; kitchen; balcony terrace with dining area.
Adjoining apartment on garden level (sleeps 6); 1 double bedroom; 1 twin room; 1 sitting room with double sofa bed; 1 kitchen/diner. Games room with gym equipment (TRX, kettlebells, battle ropes), table tennis, table football and dart board (bring your own darts!) at garden level.
Outside: A substantial garden with large 6m x 12m heated** pool and covered BBQ area; a sundowner deck with views up to the historic village of Aubeterre sur Dronne, particularly special for sipping a Pineau des Charentes in the early evening sun; we also have an adjoining paddock, perfect for kicking a football around, a boules area and off-street parking for multiple cars on both sides of the house.
* The house is configured for family living, so we recommend no more than 10 adults in the group
** Additional charges apply for pool heating, though it is never needed in the summer holiday months
