Botanic Rest B&B was clean and basic. It lost points for noise and safety.
When we checked in we took our suitcases up the stairs. About halfway to our room in the hallway on a few stairs up, a man was doing some repairs in the doorway to a room. His tools (including an electric screwdriver) were in the middle of the stars and hallway. We had to move them, so we could get past. Pretty unsafe.
The breakfast was nice. They had the usual continental breakfast and you could order hot items off the menu.
We were on the 3rd or 4th floor. I lost count going up so many stairs. We had huge windows leading out to the street. The room was well lit, but warm. We opened the windows and could hear the street noise. Apparently, there was a bar/restaurant on the corner that was hopping well into the wee hours of the morning, so we got to listen. Then, early in the morning we could hear kids playing on the street. Needless to say, we didn’t rest much.
There were lights in the mirror of the bathroom which flashed constantly no matter what we did. I wasn’t sure if I was in a disco or about to have a seizure.
The location was perfect though, as we were moving our daughter into her house for Queens University.
