Beautiful Berat
This is an impressive hotel. We pulled into the parking lot and immediately left the property because we thought we were in the wrong place. It is one of the largest buildings in Berat and we thought we had made a mistake when we originally pulled into the parking lot. The hotel was quite quiet this time of year so it seemed a bit empty but we loved our room, the location and the staff were friendly and helpful. We could walk to all the sights we wanted to see while we stayed in Berat. There is a wonderful pedestrian way near the hotel that leads to many coffee houses, bars and restaurants. The castle is less than two km away not counting the walk UP to the castle where the sights are amazing. The provided breakfast was very good with a big variety. Our room was big, comfortable and very clean. This is an excellent choice if you are looking for a place to stay while in Berat.

They seem to be light on reception staffing. The person we interacted with most was quite new there and apparently did not know how to do many things. For example, we were assigned a room right next to the elevator. We asked if something else might be available to switch to and we were told were would need to wait several hours and to ask again at that time, when another person would begin their shift. Upon leaving I asked it I could have a receipt and were told by the same person that since I paid online that would not be possible. That was an odd response since I did all my bookings on a pay later basis. She became very annoyed by the request and just stood there and ignored me. I have never seen a receptionist behave this way in all my years of travel. I suspect she is not well suited to the job. The manager came at night and seemed to be well informed but that does not help if a guest has a question during the day,

Grand hoteland a reasonable price
Grand hotel in a good location for all Berat's attractions. Our room was very big with a fine view overlooking the castle. The breakfast was plentiful and varied. Yes, some of the hot dishes were in fact luke-warm, but that didn't matter to us. Curiously, our room was serviced on the second day of our stay, but it didn't stretch to making the bed!

Could be great with a few alterations
Great hotel for the money, needs painting outside. Some of the waiting staff at breakfast fiddling with their phones and hands in their pockets. Great young girl on reception very friendly and helpful . They shouldn’t try charging customers extra to use the pool not on.

The only negative comment I would make is that the hotel does not have a separate bar area, and you cannot get a drink past 10.30 - on a Saturday evening 😟

Stunning hotel looking over Berat. The staff were so helpful, and when we had an issue with our shower it was fixed within 10 mins of reporting it-5* service Breakfast was a classic self-service buffet each morning, simple but delicious. We also had massages in the spa. The service quality was superb. The spa was lovely and I imagine it will be a great facility when fully opened. However our room was on the first floor just above the restaurant which meant we heard music from the restaurant 7am-11pm everyday.

Great hotel, large rooms, easy walk to the main area of Berat. Only negative would be that u have to pay extra to use the pool, price does however include a drink. Hotel is still good value for money.

After staying here I feel a bit bamboozled by this property. Check in is listed at 1pm and when we arrived at 4:30 we were told our room was not ready but that it should only be about 15 minutes. After an hour it was still not ready and when we went to ask about the status we were told it was cleaned only to go up and find it was still dirty. We finally got into our room at 6:30, a full 2 hours after we arrived and 5.5 hours after the listed check in. The front desk person was kind and comped our dinner. Online it showed there was an indoor pool only to arrive to an outdoor pool, which required an extra charge and reservation. We inquired about laundry, and we’re told that it wasn’t available. We were fully expecting laundry at this hotel as listed. We inquired about massages at the spa, but were told that they would have to check on the massage therapists availability. They never did and it seems weird that they would only have one massage therapist for an entire hotel. This is certainly not what I would expect at a 5 star hotel. And I certainly didn’t expect to feel nickled and dimed at every turn. When arriving there was also no one to greet us and tell us where to park which was a bit bizarre. The breakfast was fine, but again, not anywhere near a 5 star hotel.

Breakfast is typical Albanian. Unfortunately it is not 5* standard. Can’t cook an omelette or fried eggs. They are all cooked extremely well done and friend eggs placed on top of each other like pancakes. Another surprise is that the pool area is chargeable at €10 per person. When I asked the reason they said it cost them a lot of money to maintain the pool so they charge. Never seen this in a 5* hotel. Overall good compared to the price I paid
