It states check in at earliest 4pm but no mention that the building is locked until 4pm so if you arrive early you cannot get any drinks. Accommodation was excellent but the whole area is taken up for dining with no real facility to sit and relax with a drink unless you go outside on benches. Diners are limited to 2 hours and then are required to leave to free the table.
The room ( Bamburgh ) was very spacious and comfortable. The bed was huge and we got a good night sleep. The room and the hotel was very clean. The staff were helpful and cordial. The food was excellent both for breakfast and dinner. It is in an ideal location for visiting the local sights. It is in a quiet village. Highly recommend

Beautifully renovated and modernised pub/ restaurant with tastefully decorated ensuite rooms. Really comfy bed with crisp fresh bedding. Very friendly and chilled out vibes. We had dinner in the restaurant and it was very good. The wine was particularly good. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice. Highly recommend and would definitely return.
Good breakfasts with plenty of pleasing options.
Full breakfast day one but too full from previous night so tried eggs royale on day two - generous salmon portions.
Evening venison dish very well cooked. Halibut slightly over cooked. Both with delicious sauces.
Service was disappointing - had to leave the table to catch the eye of pleasant but inexperienced servers.
Spacious clean room, shower cubicle on the small side.
Ample parking.
Handy for Berwick and Lindisfarne.
We really enjoyed our two nights in this recently refurbished hotel. Our room was spacious and the bathroom was first class. Great breakfasts and a very good, popular restaurant.
We had a lovely stay at the property, the staff were so friendly and check in was easy. The room its self was clean, bed was comfy and the shower pressure was amazing. We had our dinner at the pub which was delish and then our breakfast in the morning was amazing as well. Amazing stay would definitely reccomend
Excellent accommodation and friendly staff. The only area to consider was the evening meals menu which seemed to be dominated by "game".
Cooked breakfasts are the the best I have ever had!!!!!
This was our first trip to Northumberland and we could not have chosen a better place to stay.
The room was spacious and clean, the bed was very comfortable, the decor was calming and suited the room.
The staff were all friendly and helpful. We ate twice in the restaurant during our three nights at the Black Bull. The food was fantastic. Good sized portions, well cooked with great flavour. The Game Goujons were very tasty as were the burgers we had in the first night. The next time we ate there we had the stone bass and the pie of the week. All was yummy, and the drinks were great too.
Breakfast was included and the choice was lovely. The black bull breakfast was a winner all around.
The Black Bull was a great base to explore the local area, with easy access to Holy Island and other historical sites. We would recommend a stay here and will be back.
