Had enough of being an armchair traveller? Dying to experience the real thing? Betio is the perfect place to start. You'll find it among the spectacular beaches of Kiribati. (You'll have to venture off the tourist trail a little, but isn't that what travelling is all about?)

The well-known city of Tarawa is within relatively easy reach of Betio. It's situated around 16 kilometres to the northeast.

Does witnessing sunset with the sea as your backdrop tickle your fancy? Pay a visit to Red Beach, 2 kilometres to the northwest.

Take a journey back in time as you wander around the World War II Guns. This historical site has many tales to tell.

Sports fanatics won't be left out in the cold during their stay. Bairiki National Stadium is 5 kilometres away in Bairiki and an ideal place to get your sporting fill. Be sure to check the event calendar to see what's on.

The nearby localities of Maiana and Abaiang are worthy of your time. They're located 50 kilometres south and 55 kilometres north away, respectively. Jump in the car and find out what they're all about!
