We received a call the morning of our stay telling us that the New Inn was still closed due to Covid and our booking had been moved to The Red Lion on the Quay. That was great for us. Hotel was lovely and room fantastic right on the harbour side. Clovelly is a must if you re in Devon.
wonderful welcoming staff. Great location for time away from it all, with peace and quiet, and excellent food. character filled building in the main street.
The village and accommodation are authentic. Accessibility out of season may be a problem for the less mobile. Breakfast at the New Inn was excellent and our evening meal was very tasty and very good value.
I ate in the pub part of the inn on arrival, very welcoming and comfortable. Breakfast was massive and delicious. A great stay in the lovely village of Clovelly.

The room was very spacious, and well presented. The double bed was excellently comfortable and the bathroom also clean and inviting with soft good quality towels.
breakfast was particularly good with a good choice of both cold buffet and a wide range of cooked breakfast as well. The receptionist let me leave my phone plugged in while I went for a walk after breakfast so that it could charge up, so this was helpful too. I will definitely come back.
This was supposed to be just an overnight stay before our early morning ferry to the National Trust island of Lundy. We could not find a hotel in Bideford so took this hotel as only 10kms away. When we got there the village surpassed our expectations enormously. The place is beautiful and car free with cobble roads. The locals use sleds to get shopping down to their properties from the car park at the top of the hill over the ridge. This village is exquisite and anyone in Devon for a holiday should not miss it

Quaint pub inn. More than adequate for the small town of Clovelly.
Unique location. Very happy I could show my family my childhood holiday memories. Comfy beds. Huge breakfast included Don’t take a big suitcase down the hill !!!
My stay was a good one. It was quite a cobblestoney walk down the hill from the village parking lot to the hotel, with no option to drive down due to it being a car-free village. My room was comfortable, although the shower didn't appear to be working, and there was a fair bit of noise (thin floors and walls in these old places). The breakfast was good, and they serve decent pub fare in their pub.

Understand this is an old property , but some areas need attention , i.e , plaster falling off walls , curtain rails need fixing .

Good value for money. Could do with refurbishment and a good clean though. Staff very helpful and good breakfast.
Such a great place clovelly hotel at top of hill the breakfast was amazing, really looked after us,bed was comfortable, great to wake up and look down hill to the sea.
Clovelly itself was very beautiful. The staff in the hotel couldn’t have been nicer and more helpful. However our room (10) was mouldy and damp in places and wasn’t as clean as I would have liked. Strangely there was no light in the ceiling so the room was lit with two bedside lamps.
The food was beautiful and plentiful and as I say the staff were brilliant so all in all we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
The room was filthy. Staff seemed surprised but it was old dirt. Bathroom mouldy and barely functional. Rest of hotel was shabby and gloomy. Staff not well informed. We cancelled 3 out of 4 new nights as we could not bear another night.
Staff very friendly and helpful, Room was lovely and had our own balcony. Breakfast offered great variety and was a superb way to set you up for the day's exploring. Clearly you have to be reasonably mobile to negotiate the hill but it is well worth it if you can.
