Toilet made a terrible noise when refilling, room next door's toilet made the same noise which could be heard through the walls. On site parking was very expensive at £19 a day. Staff were great. Rooms were very pricey.

The location is fabulous, the staff are helpful and friendly. Excellent buffet breakfast. Rooms were a good size and you can park your car at the hotel. We will definitely stay here again. The decor is a little dated, but I wasn’t too bothered. A fantastic stay.

Hotel feels old and tired as if it was updated in the 1990’s and has not had much done with it since. Rooms clean, but bed was lumpy, duvet thin and quite short in length, shower looked retrofitted by a Soviet era designed and my room the overlooked the Ouse lack adequate soundproofing of the window which meant as it wailing weekend I was kept awake until 3am or 4am each of my two night stay. At basically £140 a night it was not value for money. It’s a two star hotel worth about £70 a night at the most!

We had no hot water for 3 days, the water to the washing machine had been switched off and several lights were broken making the kitchen and bathroom darker BUT housekeeping were outstanding in trying to find an interim solution until the plumber arrived. We were given use of a bathroom of another (vacant) apartment on a different floor which, although inconvenient, meant we didn’t have to cancel our stay and find alternative accommodation at short notice. Housekeeping were very sympathetic and just lovely people. Maintenance turned up after everything had been fixed and just criticised everything.

I really can’t fault it! The problem with tv got sorted the next day I brought to their attention and everything I needed was there. Great location! 10 out of 10 and I will be back with friends and family for sure 👌

The apartment rooms are incredibly clean, spacious, and comfortable, with good beds, hot water, and even a washing machine, which was a huge bonus for us while traveling across the country. That said, the flats are located in a separate building away from the main hotel and its lovely river view. Getting in requires juggling a flimsy set of keys to unlock three different doors, with the exterior one being particularly tricky to open — likely due to a faulty key copy. We stayed on the top floor, and with no elevator in the building, going up and down multiple times a day quickly became exhausting. There was also a plumbing issue worth mentioning: whenever you turn on the shower or the bathtub faucet, water starts dripping in the kitchen. This comes with a loud noise, most likely from a water pump working to push the pressure up to the higher floors. That definitely needs looking into. Finally, the building has a somewhat dated feel to it, though depending on your taste, that could actually be part of the charm.

Clean apartment, good location for exploring York city centre. The only downside was that we stayed on a Friday and a Saturday and there was a lot of noise on the Saturday evening from the streets when the local nightclub was closing.

We had a lovely room overlooking the river. Everywhere in the hotel was spotless and the decor was up to date. Only slight quibble was the shower over the bath which was dated but produced hot water. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast selection was good with English breakfast cooked well. The lounge was a lovely room to have a drin as it overlooked the river. I would definitely recommend this independently run hotel

As room was big, it was also cold when we arrived (albeit ability to check-in was much appreciated!). Took a while to warm up. Bed linen / duvet wasn’t thick enough. Perhaps option of an additional blanket would have been helpful ? On our last morning a Monday), a contractor (decorator) started working at 8.10a.m on the wall of the adjoining room, which wasn’t appreciated! Perhaps this should be taken into consideration… don’t start before say 9.30 say ? Nevertheless, thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would stay again !

Ok let’s list all the things that our hotel room didn’t have 1)There was no heating switched on when we got there, when I switched it on the temp controls didn’t work well 2) there are only 2 240v sockets in the room and one of them is for the television. No sockets either side of the bed! No usb socket there either. I went to reception and he loaned me an extension lead. This then was a trip hazard in the dark! 3) the bathroom… no hooks behind the the door to hang clothes on. 4) hot water is dangerously hot. 5) shower is in the bath with a curtain, I had a shower and the floor was dangerously wet. Minimum it needs a bath screen and a safety handle to steady you. My wife could t get her leg over the side of the bath to have a shower.! 6) sound insulation.. you can hear people coughing and snoring in the next room. 7) no nightlight in the bathroom. Get up to go to the loo in the night and you have to put the light on. Good location and I could park the car below but had to move it due to the river rising and possible flooding All in all it was like booking into a hotel from the 1970s
