We had such a lovely stay. Mary was incredible, really friendly and helpful. The facilities on site were great and the hut was lovely and cosy! Will definitely be back again!
I really enjoyed my stay in the Blackstairs Shepard hut.
The facilities in the main building were excellent and the hut was cosy and comfy with everything you'd need for a good night's sleep.
Mary was full of helpful tips and suggestions for things to do in the area.
The property was beautiful and the area was quiet and relaxing.
Such an exclusive place to stay too as only 4 huts on the site.
The location is great for exploring the local area and a couple of counties!
One of the most beautiful and special places I’ve ever been to in Ireland. Mary the host was so lovely and Terrence helped me get around and see some incredible local spots. I would go back in a heartbeat.
Evan and I had the most incredible time here! Such a truly beautiful property with the most welcoming and warm hosts. This is a true top spot for any outdoor/nature enthusiast; the grounds and gardens are spectacular, the huts and barn are lovely, and they truly do have sustainability, eco-friendliness, and environmental consciousness at the heart of the experience. The location is exceptionally well situated - it feels remote and cozy yet is near a wealth of little gems to explore. Between the river-way, the towns, the mountain trails, and the property itself, there is so much to do and see (and something for everyone). We would come back in a heartbeat. Thank you for a wonderful stay, Mary and Robert.
We stayed in one of four Shepherd Huts. Breakfast provided in the mornings. Mary makes homemade sourdough bread every morning, which left hubby in heaven! His fave bread. We've never had better. The bathroom and bathing facilities are great. There is a swing from a tree that we enjoyed as well as tramping through their woods, and maze, and trails. It's all so beautiful and peaceful❤️ We'd love to come and stay longer than two nights. It was the tranquility we needed. Robert and Mary work really hard, and are earth friendly in every way. Piper, their rescue cat is a sweetheart, too!❤️
Incredible experience with a fabulous host! All we could hear were the sounds of sheep and cows. Facilities were incredibly clean. Breakfast was phenomenal. Our only complaint was that the hut was damp in the morning. Still a fantastic stay that we thoroughly enjoyed.
This place is an absolute gem - so tranquil and with a wonderful and interesting host, Mary. The shepherd’s huts are lovely and clean; beds were super comfortable.
Absolutely amazing night last night at the shepherds hut. Mary couldn’t be nicer, so friendly and welcoming. The barn is beautiful and everything is so relaxing. The grounds are truly lovely. Breakfast was amazing. Had an excellent meal in the step house hotel/pub in nearby village of Borris. Great food and very friendly staff, nice surroundings. Then we called in for a drink at Joyce’s pub just down the road. The landlord and landlady were truly wonderful - heartily recommend a visit.
All in all, our visit to Blackstairs shepherds huts was perfect, we couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay, and we will be sure to visit again when we get the chance. Thank you, Mary!
Mary and Robert have created a spectacular eco friendly environment that is quiet and peaceful and full of plants, trees and flowers. The breakfast is enormous and contains many homemade products. My stay was exceptional.
This was our first night in Ireland and by far the best! The bathrooms were in the remodeled barn, but we didn't mind it one bit. The mattress was so comfortable and the huts were just the cutest. Breakfast was amazing and I wish we had known about the nature outings that Mary and her husband put on. It's a lovely place to chill away from the city and take in Ireland's flora and fauna.
