Holidays in Blanchland

Blanchland is a destination with plenty of cool stories to tell. If you reckon your life's been a bit vanilla lately, a trip here is the perfect answer!

You can find one of England's most significant cities just a couple of hours from Blanchland. Manchester is situated 150 kilometres to the south.

There's nothing that compares to watching a sunset by the sea. While you're here, organise an outing to Bamburgh Beach, 90 kilometres to the north.

The relaxing sounds of nature are waiting for you at High Force. It sits just 25 kilometres away, so you don't have to be on the road all day. Kielder Water, 45 kilometres away, is one more recommended option.

What could be more fun than cheering yourself hoarse at a rugby union game? Catch the Newcastle Falcons battle it out at Kingston Park Stadium, located in United Kingdom, 30 kilometres away. Or, experience the exciting atmosphere of a live home game with the Newcastle United Reserves.

The Empire Theatre and the Stocksfield Golf Club are not far from the centre of Consett, 7 kilometres to the east. Eager for more? Riding Mill, 11 kilometres to the northeast of Blanchland, is known for Hexham Abbey and Old Gaol.

Spend a day at Beamish Open Air Museum, Beamish Adventure Park and Chapman's Well Local Nature Reserve. All of these attractions are not too far from the middle of Stanley, 25 kilometres to the east. Need something else to do? The South Moor Golf Club and Causey Arch should also feature on your travel list.

Eating is one of life's biggest pleasures, and since you're reading this, you probably think travel is too. Combine your love for both by going out and trying the local food and drink offerings at the bars, cafés and restaurants across town.

Fish and lamb are two common ingredients used in many dishes here. If you don't have an appetite for them already, you will by the end of your holiday!

No food-loving traveller would visit Blanchland without digging into some of the signature dishes, such as bangers and mash (sausages with mashed potatoes) and ploughman’s lunch (cheese, bread, pickles and cold cuts).

If you're all about dessert, you're not going to be disappointed. Make sure you try spotted dick (sponge pudding of dried fruits with custard), a scrumptious treat that's guaranteed to satisfy your sugar cravings.

Is there anything more satisfying than knocking back an ice-cold glass of beer with a perfect foam head? Satisfy your thirst and rub shoulders with a few locals over a round or two of Yorkshire Bitter.

Familiar with Bombay Saphire Gin? It's a sensational way to get the night started in Northumberland. Ask the bar person for a taste and then down a shot or two!

Not much is finer than a drop of vino with a meal. Here, Denbies Pinot Gris and Chapel Down Chardonnay are what the wine lovers usually ask for.

It might be time to say goodbye, but your trip doesn't end here. Your family and friends will be asking to see pictures of the charming Northumberland region for a long time to come!

The nearest terminal is Newcastle International Airport (NCL). When it's time to pack your suitcase and take off, go 30 kilometres to the northeast.

"Good location, fair price. The room was on the small side, the bathroom in particular felt cramped. The room was too hot for me even with the radiator off (early Nov) and although the window did open there was no way to latch it open to cool the room down."
