So, let me start out with the positives.
The room is excellent, big, and spacious, even in their basic apartment.
It offers one of the best and most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept as a travel blogger. Everything about this place is perfect except the staff.
The staff are extremely rude and belligerent.
I had a bad first impression of the staff from the beginning. Let me explain. The reception desk called me at about 10 PM on the day that I was arriving, and the guy starts out speaking German. I told him my apologies. I did not speak German. Do you speak English or Dutch? So he switches to English and makes it apparent to me that English is not a problem for him. He then told me that he will send me an email with the instructions on how to check in after hours. What happened next was appalling.
He sends me an email in German and proceeds to call me back to confirm that I received the email in German while speaking nearly flawless English. Then he proceeds to tell me that he does not have time for English. So I responded in Dutch, stating in Dutch that I also don’t have time for English because I’m here to take a high-level Dutch course at the University.
To me, this was a little bit like sticking your middle finger up at me without actually doing it. It’s basically saying, I don’t want to speak English with you. I can’t speak English, but I don’t want to. Super rude.
