Olive Retreat is a home with a difference. It is designed for fun and relaxation. The home is located in the Olive hamlet of Boiceville, just a stone’s throw from the Hudson Valley Rail Trail, and a quick drive to the Ashokan Reservoir—both great for walking and bike riding. This home has 2 bedrooms, 2 full baths, 2 fireplaces, and a sauna. Also, we have a game room on the first floor, with a ping pong table, a small pool table. The property is private.

The common areas are open concept. the living area has a wood-burning fireplace. There is a Peloton bike and dedicated workspace in the solarium. The side door leads out to a spacious deck with a generous fenced-in backyard so that children and dogs can play safely.

(If you have young children, please be aware that the stairs from the entry level/game room area are open--they do not have backs--and toddlers can crawl through.)

The master bedroom offers a king bed, a wood-burning fireplace, a sauna, a flat-screen TV, and another dedicated workspace. The master bath offers a steam shower.

The second bedroom has a full-size bed.

The deck has a dining table and gas grill—we supply the gas. And of course there is a fire pit—we supply the wood. The fenced backyard has a fire pit.

Lovely fall weekend
Pros: Great space, nicely stocked kitchen (both in terms of cookware/serveware, and condiments/spices), great location. Fresh, fluffy towels and very comfortable beds. Pictures are accurate. Fenced yard was great for our kids and dog. They even supplied dog bowls, toys, and beds. We wanted to add an extra night the second we walked in. Cons: Although it was pretty clean overall, the game room (basement) was a little musty, and affected our breathing (we are asthmatic), the second bathroom smelled of urine, there was a used q-tip on the floor in the master bath, and the floors could use a scrubbing. Also, despite the dog friendliness of the space, and the repeated mention of dog friendly amenities, we were informed of a pet fee after we booked (not mentioned in ad). The fee was nominal though. Overall: book it, you'll like it. We might have to come back to check out the sauna.
