The staff's hand hygiene in the hotel restaurant was not up to par compared to what I have observed in other establishments recently. The employees attempted to clean the tables by spraying a cleaning solution over the leftover cutlery and then left the area. They also pushed down the rubbish in bins using their hands, and after that, they picked up napkins and returned to the same table. They folded the napkins and placed the cutlery back on the table, all while leaving chemical residue on the items.
On my second night, after spending the whole day out and having eaten earlier, I went to the bar to order a serving of chips. It took 40 minutes for my order to arrive, and when it did, the chips were soggy. The chef was at the bar, so I approached him to explain the issue. He waved his hand and directed me to speak with a bar staff member. Unfortunately, that staff member was unhelpful and simply said they would exchange the chips for me. It seems there is a lack of proper training for employees on how to communicate and engage with customers, as there was no apology offered. While it may have been just chips, the staff could benefit from better training in customer service. I don't plan to visit the village hotel again.
