Architect designed Eco House in small village on the Wye Valley Walk.

This has to be a perfectly located house – and very beautiful as well. In a quiet village enclave, close to a shop, and a short walk to local pub, Y Golau is also within a short drive to Hay on Wye the famous book town also the Brecon Beacons and The Black Mountains. The River Wye goes through the village, with the Wye Valley Walk following its course – a bonus for dog-owners, but lovely for all. With its expanse of westward-facing glazed frontage, the house has been designed to enjoy the best of the sunshine, when available, but is bright and light even when the sun doesn’t appear.

Detached 3 bedrooms, 2 doubles and a twin. Doubles en-suite. Open plan downstairs with log burner. House owned by art dealers so loads of art on display and to purchase if you wish. Lots of sofas to curl up on in the winter months after a day walking in the hills. Perfect for family get togethers, walkers, dog owners and anyone who just wants to take a cool break from the rat race.

The house is also about 300 yards from The Rectory Fishery. Day permits for Salmon, Trout and Coarse Fishing available via The Wye And Usk Foundation Web Site
Make yourself comfortable in this vacation home, which features a fireplace and a Smart TV. There's a private patio. A kitchen is outfitted with a refrigerator, an oven, and a stovetop. Complimentary wireless internet access keeps you connected, and a DVD player is provided for your entertainment.
Take in the views from a garden and make use of amenities such as barbecue grills.
Guests will find features like internet access and onsite parking.

Serene Welsh Getaway – Peaceful, Comfortable, and Well-Located

Our stay at this charming countryside cottage was a highlight of our trip to Wales. The property is tucked into a peaceful setting with stunning views of the surrounding hills—every morning felt like a postcard. The cottage itself was warm, clean, and had everything we needed. We especially loved the cozy feel of the living area and the well-stocked kitchen—it made relaxing after a day out so easy and enjoyable.During our stay, we explored the Brecon Beacons, wandered the bookshops of Hay-on-Wye, and spent time at the breathtaking Carreg Cennen Castle. Each day was its own adventure, and it was a joy to come back to such a calm, comfortable place in the evenings. The location worked perfectly for both scenic day trips and slower, relaxing moments. It felt like a true escape.Highly recommend this place for anyone looking to experience the beauty and history of rural Wales. We’d absolutely stay here again!

Welsh Winter

A very cosy and comfy house that easily accommodated the four of us. Location was good although not really a "country" setting as in a "development" of a few modern houses. Easy access to Hay on Wye which is wonderful as well as Brecon (less wonderful) and other spots in the area. Warm house, great TV, comfy couches and great bedding all added up to a great stay.

Travelled on possibly the worst day of the year

We struggled to get to the property - 3 cars from differing locations struggling with floods and so many diversions and arrived after local shop had closed but thank fully the car with the main foods in arrived. There was no welcoming pack just in case the "food car" did not make - not even half a pint of milk which we all thought a little stingy as we certainly could have sorted ourselves the next morning but to see us through theSunday evening would have been appreciated. The house is starting to look a little tired in furniture dept downstairs but there is a downstairs lavatory which was good. The comment made of the duvets was like sleeping in a crisp package was so appropriate. The upstairs was much better. Loose rugs are never a good idea. These comments were made by the group and we do travel and stay often as we have equine judges in the group so we do have a basis to make an opinion. My one real irritation was the large frying pan was past its best and I was the "breakfast" cook!!! . It always good to end on a positive and after being at the Royal Welsh Winter Fair for 2 days in not very good weather conditions the house was warm to return to.

Hay winter festival break

I booked the property for the Hay winter festival. Lovely property, everything spotless, comfortably warm. Very comfortable beds. Well equipped. Nice looking log burner but was unseasonably warm so we didn’t need it. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Get together in Brecon

Great open plan living/social space downstairs however upstairs whilst spacious presented its challenges. Too much light in master bedroom during the night from bathroom windows/skylight. Had to turn on the bathroom light when going to the loo waking partner! Separate lights perhaps? Bath towels very small and we are average height /build. A memory foam mattress is not to our liking and the duvet was quite heavy for this time of year. Very well equipped kitchen and social /entertainment facilities including Now TV. We did move one sofa so all guests faced the TV better. Quiet location and within walking distance to The Griffin Pub-Nice food. Local shop closes at 5pm-worth advising guests if arriving after 5pm -we drove back to Brecon for Breakfast supplies.

3 nights in the Wye Valley

We really liked the set up. Contemporary and well maintained. Spacious warm and inviting and well equipped Interesting art and comfortable bedrooms. A pub just over the river and a shop across the road. The Wye is right there and we had an excellent 7 mile circular walk along the river and over the moorland. Also a magic meal at THE. GRiffin at Felin Fach A really great pre Xmas catch up with old friends. Oh and Hay is just a few miles away. Top.

Hidden gem

Wonderful stay in an amazing part of Wales. Well located with river 2 minutes away, hills, mountains, towns, beaches and activities for the adventurous nearby. Two weeks and still not enough time to do everything. Richard was very responsive to contact yet not intrusive, and we appreciated the fans provided for the heatwave. Lovely house, light-filled, well stocked kitchen just like home from home. Stairs may be a little hard for those with mobility difficulties. Plenty of bathrooms :) so no delays to getting out to explore! If you are lucky to see the starry dark skies then you have hit the jackpot! Highly recommend a stay here, wish it could of been longer.

Lovely spacious building in a nice area of the Wye Valley

We stayed as a group of 6x adults and two dogs. Good Stuff: Location in relation to the NCN8, the river and the Wye Valley Trail; Proximity to good pubs; The owl that hoots when it gets dark; The light as it trails through the house in the daytime; 4 (!) toilets; Space in the house to store bikes and other sports equipment safely; Good parking; BBQ; Dog friendly; Dishwasher; The kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils and pots and pans; The wifi was excellent, even loaded with 6x adults worth of useage; The games and books in the house were great for the indoor days; The space between the bedrooms; the local villagers were a delight to chat to. Less good stuff (being niggly - but hopefully helpful): Bathtowels were old and marked and moved water around rather than dried your body (bring your own); Check out time on a Monday was difficult to observe with the complicated Recycle bin day obligations and covidy 'Strip the beds' routine. Rather than a relaxed departure it was pretty fraught. An extra 30 minutes might make it a bit more managable. The electric hob was really tricky to cook on. Either too cold or too hot and no where in between, at points I would have given anything for my induction hob. Overall we really enjoyed the stay. I would definitely recommend this little piece of Wye Valley bliss, just make sure you bring the cooking oil (!) and some spare toilet rolls, and be prepared to watch over your boiling pasta like a hawk! :)

Fantastic location

What a great location to use as a base for canoeing, cycling, mountain climbin and general exploration. My only slight niggles would be that it is on a corner and so gets road noise from two sides - hence rated 4/5.
