This was such a great stay for my family. The hotel staff was amazing. They were helpful, kind, and efficient. The breakfast was incredible! Room was plenty large enough for my family of 4. It was very clean too. There was so much to do on the property. Our first night we sat out front in the biergarten and enjoyed burgers and beers. Sitting out on our balcony enjoying my morning coffee watching a train roll across the huge bridge behind the property was an amazing way to start my day. My kids loved hiking to the waterfall on the trail just behind the hotel. There are several trails to hike there. There are two really cool shops on the property and some other neat things that you’ll just have to discover for yourself. There are also two great towns about 30-45 minutes drive from Hofgut Sternen, Freiburg and Triberg. I’m almost sad that our trip to Germany started with this hotel as I’m afraid that the others we have booked might not live up to the experience we had here. Thank you Hofgut Sternen for getting our Germany vacation off to an amazing start.

Great hotel, but right next to noisy road.
Very nice hotel. Everything was great for the exception of the road right next to the hotel. Very heavy traffic even at night. Very annoying if you want to keep windows open at night to get some fresh air.

Lovely hotel and anex's. Great breakfast, and stunning if steep multi waterfall walk behind the hotel. We paid to see the highest waterfall in Triberg, this is better. Only negative we couldn't eat in the evening as both night the restaurant was fully booked.

Efficiently run and extremely friendly hotel at a reasonable price. Good food in the restaurant and excellent breakfast selection. Very family friendly and some thoughtful touches (we were able to borrow an umbrella and walking sticks free of charge for example). Convenient location for exploring the area and transport is free with the hochshwarzwald card issued at the hotel, which also allows free or discounted access to a number of local attractions. Be aware that hotel is part of a small complex which includes shops selling high end souvenirs and local crafts. It is also located just off a main road, however we did not find it noisy and slept very well. We would certainly stay again.

Very old structure in need of refurbishment. Booked a suite and got a double bedroom. They refused to room service me and had to get food myself. Some of the staff are rude. Overall accommodation is comfortable due to location.

Did not like the lack of air conditioning- very hot days and hard to sleep. Room was very small and not as pictured on Expedia and had no refrigerator, had a glass door to the bathroom ensuring no privacy. Amenities and housekeeping were the bare minimum - not what I expect from a 4 star hotel. Did like the beautiful grounds and adjacent walking trails and the good breakfast.

Great Start to Our Honeymoon!
My wife and I stayed here for the first 2 nights of our honeymoon and absolutely loved it! The location is perfect, it was situated right in the mountains and a short drive to Freiburg and our hiking trails. The hotel grounds were lively with multiple restaurants, museums and historic sites. The staff was incredibly nice and accommodating. We highly recommend for any tourists looking for an authentic Black Forest experience. This is not anything like your typical Best Western. My wife loves that it was a historic hotel and that we were able to walk the grounds and tour the history.

The staff were fantastic. We stayed there on my 60th birthday and we were treated really well. Champagne, chocolates and a decorated table - and that was for Breakfast !!!! The evening meal was lovely and Pedro was really good fun. Overall we can't recommend this hotel and it's staff highly enough. 12 out of 10.
