Extremely welcoming staff at this lovely old pub on the high street. Room was large, facing onto the street. Very clean and comfortable. Lovely en suite. Breakfast fantastic - didnt need to eat all day.
Good value for money, private car park with spaces reserved for each room.
No evening meal offered but there are places to eat close by.
Staff helpful, decent breakfast.
The cleanliness of the shower area was appalling black mould round the tray area and tiles. Was going to let the hotel know but no one available when we left. Its a shame as the staff and room plus breakfast were good.
Very enjoyable 2 night stay in Room Platform 3, clean room and bathroom with good powerful shower and hot water, plenty of tea and coffee etc. Very large full english breakfast included in Bed & Breakfast price, very good value for money. Excellent real ales and well stocked bar for spirits too. Friendly locals and good bar staff. Private parking space for each room is a good idea as limited parking in the town. Good shops and lots of pubs and restaurants in the area
Location was excellent. The cliff railway is unique. We’re were visiting the Kinver edge rock house National trust, it was only 9 miles away which was good. Nice pub restaurants close by. Breakfast at the hotel was really nice. You place your order the night before and it is cooked fresh just for you. Lovely
Lovely pub, charming staff and a good breakfast. However, bathrooms need some attention. In particular, shower is a little small despite room for one larger.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Golden Lion . We had our own car parking space . The breakfast was outstanding . Very hot plenty of it and delicious. The only downside was they didn’t do meals in the evening. But they are ready to recommend places that do great meals ie The Old Castle. We would definitely stay there again.

While nothing could be done about the loud noise from the night club next door until very late at night, we could have been warned about the difficult access to the room. Breakfast service was not good. Fresh tea rather than a machine would have been nice.
Lovely old inn. Our room was a good size with all the amenities you would expect. A dedicated parking space was a real bonus. Breakfast was good. A decent shower with plenty of hot water. Central location for the town. Staff very friendly. Steep stairs to the rooms so not suitable if you have mobility issues.
There were a couple of down sides however. I didnt find the bed very comfy. You have to allow for extra noise as our room (the Retro) was just up from the smoking area so a lot of loud talking late into the evening. The main disappointment for us was the lack of housekeeping. I wasn't expecting 5 star service but was expecting for the room to be tidied, bins emptied and milks etc to be topped up. I did mention it whilst we were there. We stayed 4 nights.

Liked: Staff & service, amenities
The Staff were very polite and helpful. The bedroom was a good size, however we found the bed very uncomfortable, we had a terrible night with it and we didn't get much sleep, the bed may have been better as 2 singles? Breakfast was excellent. Good location right in the town centre however if you have a large car like ours the surrounding access roads to the pub's car park were a bit challenging!
The property was really clean staff very helpful.breakfast was great nicely situated with lots of shops to visit bed was comfortable and room warm and cosy bar staff really helpful all around great pub to stay
