Our two connected domes, featured in Maine Unique Homes Magazine, offer a truly unique experience. Inside, you'll discover a world of eclectic charm and alluring comforts that will leave you breathless. Nestled near the majestic peaks of Sunday River and Mt Abrahm, this is the ultimate destination for outdoor enthusiasts and those seeking a peaceful retreat! Come see for yourself!

Have you ever gazed up at a stunning geodesic ceiling, crafted with love from handmade wooden triangles? Now's your chance! Introducing the Maine Dome Cabin, a seductive 1980s Geodesic Dome in Western Maine, lovingly restored to perfection. As you step inside, you'll be swept away by the soaring 20ft ceiling apex and the incredible spaciousness that defies its modest exterior. Be enchanted by the 8ft wooden state of Maine, custom-designed from Reclaimed Maine, and indulge in the locally made products that adorn this irresistible home. Unplug from the world and immerse yourself in the cozy ambiance of crackling woodfire and cinematic magic on the huge streaming TVs. Come, let us awaken your senses and leave you breathless with the Maine Dome Cabin experience.

The interior contains an open floor plan with a stunning architectural design in the style of Buckminster Fuller. Every room flows into the next and from the loft you can take it all in. This is a great getaway for up to 10 people comfortably, with a maximum of 6 adults because we have just one shower.

A breakdown of the bedrooms and 2 bathrooms can be found below:
-Bathroom 1: toilet, sink, tub/shower, access via downstairs hallway
-Bathroom 2: toilet, sink, stand alone bathtub (no shower). Access via upstairs primary bedroom.

If the power happens to go out, it’s the indoor wood stove for heat (which heats the home beautifully!) We supply the wood! There’s plenty of flashlights for you. We do not issue refunds of any kind due to power outages.

In the back yard you will find the firepit for your use! Wood can be found along side the home and in the wood shed out back!

The Space:
Ever stared up at a rounded geodesic ceiling of handmade wooden triangles? You have now! Welcome to the Maine Dome Cabin, a lovingly restored 1980s Geodesic Dome in Western Maine. Upon entering, you immediately will be in awe of the 20ft ceiling apex and how much larger it is inside than it appears from outside. You’re greeted by a 8 ft wooden state of Maine custom designed from Reclaimed Maine and throughout the home you’ll find products by local makers. Disconnect, reconnect. Huge TVs for streaming movies with the woodfire roaring at night.

Getting Around:
You need a car - no way around it. It’s located on Route 232, a logging road and a significant cut-through for the area. We have a driveway that can fit 6 large cars parking and a great local plow team who will get you out in a storm. There is some road traffic noise inside the house. However, once inside the Dome and on our land behind it, you feel a million miles away. Being on a big road means we’re plowed out early, easy to find, and no mountain roads or 4x4 or special studded tires necessary. And added bonus of getting to see the real Maine industry in action - kids love sitting in the picture window and watching the logging trucks. Stop to go grocery shopping and bring water before you arrive at the Dome. Bethel has a small grocery store and the next big one is in Oxford, Maine. We have two full fridges and a mini fridge should you wish to bring many beverages.

Things Guests Need to Know:
An external security camera at the dome pointing at the driveway. They will be on. Only accessed (a) check on snowfall and plowing; (b) if noise/other complaints; (c) safety or concern for the property; (d) suspected extra guests/pet.

One of Our Best Vacations Because of the House!
We loved the dome! It was so unique and at the same time, a lot of fun! There was plenty of cookware, the bedding was super nice, the wood stove was so warm and created such a nice atmosphere, and the decor and design of the dome made for such a wonderful and comfortable stay! We traveled with two teenagers, a 12 year old, parents and a set of grandparents- and each of us loved the dome! The pin ball machine was a huge hit for all of us! We also loved playing ping pong and the indoor soccer game. The hot tub was also loved by each of us, any time of the day but especially at night under the beautiful night sky! We happened to be in Sunday River on vacation during a hundred year flood that hit through out the North East region. At first we were stressed about missing our week of skiing since Sunday River had to close because of flooding. We were also bummed that almost all of the restaurants and local attractions were closed because of flood damage! Thankfully the dome sits on a little knoll above the surrounding rivers so we only lost electricity for one day and were otherwise completely safe. While we had to change our plans, the vacation ended up being one of our best family vacations- all because of the dome! The wood stv kept us completely cozy! The different parts of the house allowed for us to have lots of space but also feel so cozy when together! And again, the games and hot tub provided endless entertainment and relaxation. We all absolutely loved the dome!
