River View Cottage with private heated pool and garden, at Chez Bigot

River View Cottage at Chez Bigot features two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and all modern facilities. Sleeping between four and six, it is suitable for a family or a group of friends.

The front door leads into a beautiful kitchen, once the bread oven and bakery. Recently installed, the kitchen boasts new appliances (oven, hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and plenty of work surfaces) coupled with oak beams, exposed stone walls, a high vaulted ceiling with views out to the private terrace, pool and garden.

Two steps lead into the large dinning room and living room. An oak table and chairs provide the internal eating area with modern comfy sofas (including a king size bed settee) and restored furniture from the region in the relaxed living area.

WiFi, numerous board games and TV with a DVD player are available in case it rains.

Up stairs are two charming double bedrooms with far reaching views, both with king size beds, Egyptian cotton bed linen and plenty of wardrobe space. The two en-suite bathrooms have modern showers with large shower heads.

Outside, River View Cottage has plenty of space. There is a terrace and lawn and great views over the meadows, woods and the river beyond. A sunken wooden terrace provides access to the private heated swimming pool with the river and trees as the backdrop. Stylish garden furniture is provided, and whilst the garden receives sun most of the day, there are umbrellas and shady areas to escape.

And across the meadow are several riverside seating areas to while away a few hours; paddle in the water or even let the rivers gentle current float you through the woods.

This is a large Gite (100 m2) and with its fenced garden, provides a safe and secure environment for children.
Make yourself comfortable in this cottage, which features a private pool. A kitchen is outfitted with a refrigerator, an oven, and a stovetop. Complimentary wireless internet access keeps you connected, and a DVD player is provided for your entertainment. Conveniences include a microwave and a coffee/tea maker.
Take in the views from a terrace and a garden and make use of amenities such as barbecue grills.
Guests will find features like wireless internet access and onsite parking.

A beautiful slice of tranquility
River View Cottage is nestled in the most beautiful spot. We were met by Mary, who was so kind and attentive to our needs. She lives across from the cottage with her family and is on hand to answer any questions and makes great recommendations. There is a comprehensive info pack on places to visit, including markets etc. We enjoyed a mix of going out to local towns, lakes and markets as well as spending time in the garden and using the pool. We took our 16 year old son to the karting track a couple of times where he had a fantastic time. Excellent facilities and so much fun! We used the BBQ most evenings and enjoyed the very tranquil surroundings. The cottage had everything we needed and was very comfortable. Thank you Mary for everything. It was a pleasure meeting you.

Family friendly, peaceful location
We had a fantastic week at River View Cottage, we wished we could have stayed longer! The location is beautiful and we loved the view down to the river and the fact that we had all this right on our doorstep. The pool was perfect for our children (aged 9 and 7) and we used it every day. We loved the garden as it was perfect to relax in the sun (or shade), dine al fresco and if the children wanted to run around more they could pop out of the back gate and be visible all the way to the river. Mary was very welcoming and helpful and if we needed her we knew she was just a stone’s throw away but completely non-intrusive. The area is wonderful for a family holiday. We had a great time getting out and about chilling by the lake, cycling, canoeing (would recommend Brantôme, very picturesque), visiting the caves at Villars, the treetop adventure etc. We had the best time and would love to return another time!

An idyllic fortnight spent with my partner and the dog. Just us in the middle of the countryside. It was the perfect place to relax. Mary, Sam & their daughters were lovely to deal with and should be very proud of what they are achieving. Would certainly recommend

Perfect holiday - 2nd edition
Once again we had a fantastic holiday at Marys and Samuels Riverview Cottage. The house, the pool and the surrounding with the river, the sheeps etc. were the perfect place to be for us and our 2 kids (11 and 13yo). Mary and Samuel are wonderful, helpful people. They are always ready to make your stint even better. We will be back.

Fantastic holiday courtesy of Mary, Sam and family.
Had an amazing time. House is lovely but outside area is fantastic. Had the best weather which enabled us to make full use of the terrace and pool. Mary give us lots of advice on restaurants and places to visit. Busserolles is a beautiful village and the surrounding area is extremely picturesque. Definitely recommend for a quiet, relaxing holiday in the Dordogne but plenty of options to sightsee.

Fantastic cottage, location and super-helpful hosts
We stayed in the River View cottage as a family of 4. The accommodation is a converted barn (and you can see how much conversion it needed from some of the photos on display!) Very well equipped - good kitchen facilities incl. dishwasher and washing machine, 2 en-suite king size bedrooms with lovely comfortable beds and decent hot showers, and a nice big lounge/dining area with UK FreeSat and wifi. Outside is the best bit though: a lovely eating and relaxing area with a variety of deck chairs, loungers, BBQ, etc. to wile away the hours doing nothing apart from going for a dip in your own pool. The pool was great for us and 2 kids (8 & 11) - big enough for a decent splash around, with the bonus of it being not heavily chlorinated (it's treated with salt and gets cleaned regularly). The local village is within walking distance (a 15 min walk up the relatively quiet road, or 40 mins or so through the back roads which was a nice walk). Driving distance to various other villages and towns. Some excellent restaurants within an easy drive as well. Mary and family are fabulous hosts - on hand to sort any issues out quickly (not that there were any particularly) and with a wealth of knowledge around the best places to park for the local big market day, or the best restaurants around the area. Thoroughly recommended.

Fabulous relaxing getaway
We had a really enjoyable stay at Chez Bigot. The gite is well equipped with everything you need and the owners Mary and Sam are more than helpful, but only if you want them to be! My husband is a fisherman and he loved having his fishing rod set up by the river at the bottom of our garden where he could fish as and when he wanted whilst I relaxed in the garden and used the pool. There are some lovely walks in the countryside and we enjoyed many as did our dog! There is a bistro which is about a 20- 25 minute stroll away which we visited a few times which served home cooked local food. We also tried a number of restaurants recommended by the owners, none of which disappointed. Whilst away from it all in the country, we were within easy travelling distance to lots of places of interest such as Brantome where we went canoeing with our dog! We went to Saint Estephe where we walked round the stunning lake and then had something to eat at Le moulin du grand etang restaurant (by the river) which serves delicious food and they also have entertainment on occasions. We visited the market at Piegut Pluviers which is the largest in the region and ate at Le Sens de la Terre which was one of our favourite restaurants. All in all I would have no hesitation in recommending Chez Bigot and can see why they have a lot of return customers. So a big thank you to Mary, Sam and particularly their son Jacob (who cleaned our pool) who were so helpful and welcoming.

Fantastic Stay
We had a great stay at the River View Cottage. All the needed amenities and more are there. We were 3 + our dog and we had a great time even if the weather was not top notch at that time. The Pool is fantastic and we used it as soon as the weather allowed it. I would strongly recommend this cottage and Sam & Mary's location for people looking for relaxation and to discover the nice Périgord Vert region. We had trips to Angouleme, Périgueux, Villars Cave... Go for it you will not be disappointed. If we plan to come back in the region we will certainly give it a GO !

Beautiful, tranquil location
With 2 children aged 5 and 8 my husband and I were keen to have a quiet break away from it all. The cottage although remote was close enough to shops and amenities. Slightly further afield there are a number of chateaux to visit. The cottage was beautifully presented and very comfortable with everything needed for our stay. The pool was a huge hit with the kids who were in it most days, we visited & fed the pigs & hens too! The owners Sam & Mary live only yards away so were on hand to offer help and advice on visits/markets and local wines. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay thank you Sam and Mary! The Bakers 08/16

A picturesque setting in secluded location
A well equipped cottage photos accurate and as described.Pool was perfect for our 2 year old and 6 year old and not too cold just right for cooling off on a hot summer day. The property was safe and secure and the animals were great for the kids. Hosts were very friendly and very helpful and the cottage is well placed for local amenities and attractions. Would return if revisiting the area!

Relaxing location
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at River View. The location is very peaceful and all the comforts of home provided. The owners were very welcoming and helpful, suggesting places to visit during our stay. The cottage is furnished with lovely old furniture to create a comfortable and cosy atmosphere. English tv and wifi were a welcome addition for keeping in touch with home and the private pool was great for cooling off. We spent 4 nights here and wished we could have stayed longer.

Hidden Dordogne Gem
We had a lovely holiday. Mary was the best host, informative and generous with her time and her eggs! The cottage was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. The swimming pool was just right for two of us to have a dip. The location was ideal for short trips to small towns and markets and we ventured a little further afield to chateaux. We would recommend it to our friends and relatives without a qualm.

Comfortable, tranquil and awesome
A group of us hired both cottages for the week to attend a friends wedding nearby. We had an incredible week - the cottages were spacious, clean, well looked after and had everything we needed. Mary and family were amazing hosts from having a few beers in the fridge for our arrival to the eggs we got fresh from their hens. Nothing was too much trouble for them and I would wholeheartedly recommend these cottages to anyone wanting to spend a week relaxing or exploring the surrounding region.

Gorgeous property
The property is furnished to a high quality with everything for a comfortable and relaxing stay and excellent facilities. The fixtures and furnishing were tasteful, with comfortable sofas so it was pleasant to sit indoors or outdoors - too often the sofas in the living room are uncomfortable and basic. The cottage is set in a very peaceful, secluded location with a river running through the grounds, perfect for lazing or reading. It's within easy reach of the main attractions, like canoeing, swimming in lakes, visiting cities like Perigueux, Brantom, Angouleme, visiting chateaux. The owners made us very welcome, were knowledgeable about local attractions and were happy to make recommendations and bookings for restaurants, etc. They provided us with produce from their allotment and the raspberries we had were the best ever. We loved the canoeing and going over the weirs and swimming in the lakes, aside from reading and relaxing around the swimming pool in the garden. I would thoroughly recommend the property and the surrounding national park to friends and family for a holiday. However, the best part of the holiday was the owners' warm and friendly welcome.

We had a fantastic 3-week-stay at Chez Bigot with our two kids. Very nice house, beautiful surrounding. The kids loved the pool and the sheep. Mary Adamson and her family were great hosts - always helpful about things you Fan do around. You should not miss the Farmers markets at St. Estephe etc.
