We were very dissapointed with our stay at Domaine de Raba. I booked 2 days prior to this with another Company and they did not allocate me my chosen room. Also, the accomodation is not in the building pictured it is in a seperate new building.
We had a lovely 1 night stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Some staff spoke very good English which helped as my French is quite basic. The Room 'Les Pidgeons' was excellent. It was beautifully presented and cosy with a charming fragrance, a sample of which were able to take with us, which was a nice touch. We enjoyed a relaxing swim in the indoor pool with our one-year-old daughter. Then we enjoyed a lovely pre-dinner drink in the chraming Library Bar. The barman was fantastic and served us up a delicious cocktail of his own recipe. Dinner was delicious and we were supplied with a high chair for the baby upon request. Again the restaurant staff were polite, professional and accommodating. We ordered breakfast to our room for 7.15 a.m. and a taxi for 8.15a.m. as we had a flight at 11a.m. The breakfast didn't arrive at 7.15 and we overslept til 7.30 which put us under a little pressure time wise. Eventually breakfast arrived at 7.45 but we didn't have time to enjoy it in full, unfortunately. It was only when we woke up, we realised there was no phone in the room, so if I was to change anything about our stay it would be to install a phone in the room. Overall a really, relaxing and enjoyable stay at Domaine de Raba. I only wish I had booked for two nights instead of one! We'll definitely be back for another stay. Thank you to all the staff who made this stay so enjoyable.
Beautiful place, the lodge was super cozy, the garden is nice and peaceful and the food was amazing. Lovely service, all excellent! I’ll be back for sure!
We really enjoyed our stay here, the staff were charming and always available and helpful. It’s a little unusual we stayed in a Lodge which is in fact just like a luxury safari tent, so rather quirky for the outskirts of Bordeaux. Don’t be put off by my description, the lodge has a beautiful super king size bed with high quality bed linen, a double shower with 2 drench style shower heads and separate loo. Breakfast is served to you at your lodge, freashly squeezed orange juice tea/coffee and loads of freash pastries. There’s quite a bit of building work going on at the moment, but it’s really worth keeping an eye on the development for the future it really is going to be a lovely place to stay when all the work is finished. I’m sure we’ll be back sometime in the future.
Very quick and easy to check in and out. Hotels attention to detail was excellent. Staff very helpful and food was excellent. Good location to stay to explore bordeaux city and the surrounding areas and vineyards.
Great experience for those looking for an alternative to big commercial hotels. Friendly staff and extremely helpful.

Don't go on a bank holiday!
This is a quaint hotel, with some lovely features and nice staff, however the overall experience was very disappointing because of the following:
- the location is by the university on the very edge of town, not near any other facilities such as shops or restaurants
- the acclaimed restaurant was fully booked upon arrival on a Saturday night
- the restaurant was closed on Sunday because of a private event which turned out to be a dinner for about 10 people
- the restaurant was closed all day and evening on Monday because of the bank holiday and there was one member of staff around all day
- we felt it would have been courteous to
Mention upon booking the lack of avaibility at the restaurant for residents and the general lack of services available during the period, the hotel felt practically closed
The staff who were around always tried to help us and the chef even tantalisingly brought us a sample of his beef Wellington whilst we were tucking into our own cheese supper on the terrace... A kind gesture but it also pointed out what we were missing!
If you have a car and don't want much more service than a B&B then you might like this place, otherwise you'll need to take lot luck with the timing I fear...

Helpful staff, convenient location, clean
The staff were extremely helpful in every way. Location was chosen mainly for location close to airport, and access to centre is easy by the tram which has a stop about 10 minutes walk from hotel.
Hotel very clean, but if you are expecting sumptious furnishings and decor this is not the place for you, it is somewhat spartan
Talence itself is unremarkable, but this hotel is very special -- and it's restaurant is amazing. The rooms were charming and comfortable; the staff very welcoming; the grounds lovely.

Excellent restaurant service; otherwise not great
Other than the cuisine, which was excellent, our experience was less than expected given the 4.3 star average shown on the website. Non-restaurant service was competent but not above the ordinary. We took three rooms for two nights, as part of a two week road trip through France. I had perhaps the least desirable room in the hotel, being near service areas and thus exposed to noise. The others were less exposed but I would avoid the first floor if you can. The property generally is nice but not as elegant as the website photos indicate.
We had wonderful 2 nights here. Staff were so friendly and helpful it felt like a five star resort. They were happy to book any trips or vineyard tours for us and were chatty nag pleasant throughout our stay. The chateau is lovely and quiet. I would recommend for a quiet romantic get away and I will be returning when ever I get the chance!!

Not as good as the photo. It's clean
and proper still with a nice garden.
Lovely people, great building, would have like some vegetarian food options on the menu. The bed and linen was the absolute best as were the provided toiletries.
This hotel was recommended to me by a friend whose opinion I trust. Despite that, we were very agreeably surprised by how pleasant our short stay was. The principal thing for us was the fact that, despite being in a suburb of a large city like Bordeaux, the main impression was of relaxing quietly in the countryside, as you are surrounded by leafy park land.
The hotel was clean, the staff smiling and willing, and the restaurant was very enjoyable. It's a little way from the centre if that's where you want to go, but fairly close to the ring road to the airport. All in all, a very worth-while find.
