It's a pretty glorious hotel, and I can imagine that in its heyday it would have been exceptional, though also much more expensive in all fairness.
Unfortunately, I was given a pretty poor room that was nestled in a corner behind a fire escape, resulting in poor lighting and a dark room.
The window was also drafty and was inadequate defence against the noise of the road. The bed didn't really fit in the room, and the mattress was similarly oddly too small for the bed so I knocked my leg against it a few times as I squeezed my way to the window or the wardrobe. The television was also unusually restrictive in options by hotel standards. I don't expect much, but the channel selection was well below average, let alone other features like smart TVs.
I did think the quality of the fittings, bedframe and TV aside, was excellent and the bathroom was really quite good. I also really appreciated having a small fridge to use, this is a big plus for me.The problem is, this is a single room which they've squeezed a bed that is too big into.
I really wanted to leave a good review for such a unique hotel, but given the poor room I was given, I'm unable to do so.
