Our stay at Grand Daddy was very nice. We loved the camper trailer, a fun and different kind of hotel room. Staff was very friendly and accomodating, everything clean and neat. We can strongly recommend a stay here.
I sgayed in the sugar daddy suite and absolutely loved it! The hotel is beautiful and the toom was very spacious. When i checked in i was warmly greeted and the staff helped me bring my bags upstairs. They do have an elevator as well. The rooftop area was gorgeous and had great music playing in the evening. The restaurant had amzing food that was freshly made each day and a food amount of options. They also had a cake of the day with a cappucino special (best way to end the day!). It was located 2 bkocks from the hop on and off bus tour and one of their main office. I would highly recommend!
Beautiful historic building. Convenient location. Great breakfast that is included with your stay - you get to pick one hot item from the restaurant menu. You also have unlimited access to a small buffet with yogurt, toast, pastries, fruit, and juices.

Not a good welcome, tv in room not working, asked to have it see too, nothing happened, also very limited channels.
Second room had a leak from the ceiling with water cascading onto the carpet.
Staff need training.
As is common in the Cape Town area, a team of very friendly and generous people made our stay at Grand Daddy Hotel memorable.
Highly recommended.

For its price, this was a nice stay. The breakfast was delicious, but it seems that there is room for improvement when it comes to upkeep and cleanliness.

I love the vintage feel of the place!
I’ve always wanted to stay in an airstream caravan on top of the roof of the Grand Daddy Hotel and then my dream finally came true after completing an 8 week crossing from Japan to Cape Town on an overnight expedition vessel. We loved our stay and enjoyed our night in the Goldrush immensely. My boyfriend says you’ve gotta love a hotel room with an en-suite bar, referring to the roof top bar which will keep you well watered and pickled ! The staff are all extremely friendly and I quite like the vintage feel of the place.

Loved the skybar hotel and included breakfast was excellent. Wonderful location less than two blocks from Hop On red bus main office.
It’s an older hotel, with rooms in need of an update,
The furniture on our room was awkwardly placed that I had to move the dresser out of the way,
The breakfast however was wonderful, made to order and included in nightly cost,
Music from bar upstairs was heard in the room 2 floors down, thank fully it stoped playing at 9 or 10.
Cute boutique hotel. Rooms are very small but nicely designed. Airstream park/bar on rooftop is super cute. Area outside hotel late at night can be sketch. We’re sad we didn’t get to experience the restaurant, it looked amazing. Would love to stay again.

Beware.. they illegally use your credit card numbe
I was going to stay but decided not to. They sent me an email saying to pay a deposit to reserve the room so I disn’t
pay it. Turns out they illegally charged my credit card for the stay. It was 1016.00 USD. I have to respond to the credit card company because they will not discuss. I have had no luck with them and did not approve the charge. Beware… once they have your credit card info they charge what they want. This has caused me so much distress on my trip and they are very unprofessional.. I have called multiple times and texted at least 20 times. They read the texts but do not respond.
My sister and I stayed here for 6 nights on a recent trip to Cape Town and generally enjoyed our stay.
We arranged an airport pick up through the hotel and he was largely on time for our arrival. The price did change at the last minute though and when I asked why, multiple times, no one at the hotel would give me an answer.
The room itself was good, very spacious. The shower was over a tub which was fine provided no mobility issues. Ours did leak a bit so we'd end up with some water pooling under the sink but we used the bath mat to soak that up. The shower was generally good with good water pressure. However, our final two nights we had no hot water but the first 4 we did, not sure why. Bed was comfortable. We had a fridge, but unlike other reviews ours was not stocked.
We had a drink upstairs at the bar and dinner downstairs, both were good. Be prepared for loud music from the rooftop bar and also level 1 with what they've got happening there. It didn't worry our sleep and I'm not sure what time it stopped but might cause a problem for light sleepers.
The highlight was the breakfast each morning. There was continental style together with a la carte. Odwa in the breakfast room was a ray of sunshine each morning and by day 3 she had our drink orders ready before we'd even ordered. Food was absolutely delicious. Breakfast staff should be comended.
Waterfront is easy to walk to in daylight, as is Kloof St & Bo Kapp.
I'd stay again
