The Crown and Mitre was Central, staff were friendly and services were convenient, I would happily use this hotel again. There was a genuine art deco feel, and yet facilities were modern. As it was in the centre of town everywhere was in easy walking distance, and there was quick access to Cumbrian beauty spots.
Really nice hotel, especially loved the staircase and the artwork. The only thing I would recommend for improvement would be to ditch the shower curtain for a screen - no-one wants a shower curtain sticking to them - but otherwise an excellent stay
This is a comfortable older hotel with good sized rooms and real windows. ti's also nice that they have big bathtubs! It's near most of what you want to see in Carlisle and convenient to the train station. The staff were a bit gruff, but they are generally accommodating.
The Crown and Mitre is a beautiful old hotel. The rooms are very spacious and it was very neat and clean, even providing robes and slippers. It is located close to all the attractions and main shopping areas. The reception staff were very helpful and the breakfast was great, would highly recommend a stay at this grand old hotel!
King room was nice with a view over the town square. Room was clean but a bit tired. Bed was very comfortable. Stayed three nights and was very enjoyable. Staff were very pleasant. Swimming pool wasenjoyable also.
Private area for parking, quick check in and options to dine in the bar or restaurant. Good range of drinks. Bed was comfortable, but no a/c or fan in the room. A cosy sized swimming pool and a very good jacuzzi. Lovely breakfast with good service

Great position. Staff friendly and helpful. Some rooms, at least, are a bit tired, though some refurbishment is in progress.
Very friendly staff . Hotel has been and was being extensively renovated and it showed . No tired old hotel . Back to its grand old self I would imagine. Excellent location . Very very clean .
Only down side for me , parking was tight and the fire doors bang - but that’s seemingly every hotel in the uk !

Property in great location. Rooms very clean however very dated. Quite busy at check in with a few rooms still not ready by 2.30.
I regularly use this hotel for stopovers enroute to and from Scotland. Lovely staff and a great location (with an added bonus of a secure car park). The only (slight) negative would be the room furnishings are getting quite dated in appearance.

Great location. Disappointing room as access was through the carpark. Very small room with washbasin in bedroom not the bathroom. Expensive for what we got. Breakfast was served up to 930am. We went around 9am and there was nothing left as regards cereal etc. Hot plates were empty too and staff reluctant to fill them. Quite a Disappointing stay overall.
The room was ideal bonus to see the sunrise. The hotel is definetly dog friendly .Ideal position in the town . Only down side -food in bar was rather expensive ,eveyone seemed to be having the burger and chips as it was the cheapest thing on the menu.£18 and the portion was small .but everthing else was great .
A pleasant enough stay in a formerly rather grand hotel that is starting to show its age in decor. Very pleasant, helpful and friendly staff. Starnge that the disabled parking bay was reserved for a non blue badge holder leaving us to squeeze into a very inaccessible space. Breakfast was a let down and not worth the £10 fee. Chef may have been to military catering school.
