Disliked: Cleanliness
Come for the fake bedrooms, stay for the bedbugs — if you dare.
We booked the Jasmine Loop house in Carthage for a group of 24, trusting the listing's bold claim of sleeping 35 with 6 bedrooms. Turns out math and architecture are more suggestions than facts here. There are two real bedrooms. The others include such luxurious sleep zones as a walk-in closet (no, really) and a collection of semi-random beds tossed into rooms that legally wouldn’t pass for storage units, let alone places for humans to sleep. We had bedding for 14. Fourteen. Out of 24.Then came 1 a.m.That's when we discovered bedbugs crawling on the bed — at which point several of us did what any sane person would do: left and booked hotel rooms at 2 a.m., dragging luggage full of paranoia and prayers we weren’t bringing tiny hitchhikers with us.Oh, and if that wasn’t enough to make you scratch your skin off:The house wasn’t clean — clumps of dog hair everywhere. There’s a live electric fence inside the fenced yard right next to a kids’ play area. Nothing says "family fun" like a surprise jolt by the jungle gym!The host was polite — until we mentioned the bedbugs. Then came the slow replies, denial of refund, and a promise to have "maintenance" verify our claim. Because nothing says “professional pest management” like a handyman with a flashlight and a shrug.Final Thought:Avoid this place unless you’re into false advertising, fire hazards, bug circuses, and the thrill of being gaslit at 2 a.m. Nothing was "luxury" about our stay.
