Faulty Towers would bewonderful compared to this place. Booked through Expedia but still the hotel charged me for accomodation. Have been trying for weeks to get them on the phone but they dont answer.
AVOID this place.

One Night Family Room -
We needed accommodation for one night for a mountain biking competition. We arrived late due to a puncture on the way down. The hotel owners could not have been more helpful or welcoming. The boys were concerned about the safety of their bikes - but needn't have been as they were taken and locked in the function suite with bikes from another family attending the same race.
Breakfast on a Sunday is normally 8.30am but the staff went out of their way to accommodate us and served breakfast at 8.00am so we could get away early for the race.
The room was clean and comfortable and had plenty of space for a family of four.
We couldn't have asked for more.
We absolutely loved the fact that the building was built in the early 1700's and that much of the original features and grounds can still be discerned.
Our stay was comfortable and enjoyable, made to feel very welcome

Not very happy
We were told breakfast was provided in the cost then had to pay again for breakfast we had two different prices the hotel said it was 130 and hotels.com took 165
Friendly comfortable hotel - like staying with friends. Although we arrived late we were greeted by name (so was our dog) and we had a good hot bar meal at a very reasonable price. We will be back
Comfortable and spacious - like staying with frien
This is a lovely old building which aretains a country house feel. The rooms are large and comfortab;e with proper deep, long baths. Everyone is friendly and helpful. I felt as if I were staying with friends . It has not been "over modernised". I shall certainly be going back
The Urr hotel was fine needs a bit of T L C . The room we had was fine it was clean but had no shower which is very unusual nowadays ! Great setting lovely grounds . Dinner at night was ok ! Breakfast was lovely . Its A shame it could be a lovely place to stay ! Needs money spent on it ! But for the price they charged it was fine . Would go back .
if you like slick designer modern hotels this is not for you
If you love historic houses which have not been ruined in a search for modernity, where you and your dog feel not just welcome but at home then this is for you.
There are lovely gardens to sit out in and walk.
Our dog was treated like a welcome guest - not just tolerated as in so many places.
There were the odd bits of unfinished restoration work and paint touch up waiting to be done but this is a work in progress
WE LOOK FORWARD TO GOING AGAIN
Looking for a quite hotel, which met our needs of being quite and peaceful (no discos).
With plenty of things to do in the area. Hotel is set in its own grounds. with plenty of short walks = the hotels own dogs will even take a walk with you.
Late arrival was no problem. Even opened the bar for me.

Dog friendly
a run down little hotel with friendly and welcoming dog loving hosts which is crying out for help and a refurb but great if you have a dog as there are fantastic grounds for your dog to run around in safety, was nice to stay while the sun was shining but may be a different story if we couldn't sit outside and enjoy the space and grounds as TV and wifi didn't work and public areas are run down.
The hotel was lovely, friendly staff, the breakfast was good we had a choice of cereal, fruit, yogurt, toast and we also had a full cooked breakfast.
Rooms were very big which pleased the children.
