In addition to the Hardwick Estate, a short journey will take you to attractions which include Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Newstead Abbey, once home to the romantic poet Lord Byron, or even pick a spot for a picnic in the 3800 acres of Clumber Park. If history is your thing, the castles of Pevril, Riber and Bolsover are all local and worth a visit.
