Upon checking in we were asked if we would like to make a dinner reservation only to be advised that 6 pm was the only available time. We happily booked the slot and went up to our room only to be greeted by someone else’s property (bags, clothes on rails, personal affects). After complaining to reception, the property was removed, but it was a cause for concern as during our wedding a number of our polaroid cameras went missing the morning of the wedding which couldn’t be explained by the staff. I now suspect that something similar happened to us a year ago and a housekeeping mistake led to those cameras being stolen…
Because of the delays caused by the above, we had to cancel the 6 pm reservation as we wouldn’t have enough time to get ready. Instead, we ate at a local pub, leaving Wildes at 7:15 only to see the restaurant practically empty and under the assumption that we were lied to about table availability.
As for the hotel room there was no conditioner available in the entire hotel, 2 of 4 sink taps were broken, there were numerous burn marks on the carpet, the window slats were hanging off their rail, the dress hanger had been pulled out of the ceiling and the bedside telephone had a message that couldn’t be removed by staff so flashed red all night
