I NEVER leave a negative review for any hotel and I’m a frequent traveler. Most times I would just dismiss it but with this hotel I MUST speak. DO NOT STAY HERE. Upon arrival things were smooth sailing. Receptionist was really nice. Got me in, held an additional 300.00 for any issues, things were good, normal check-in to a room. Area of the hotel was nice. Seem safe. Nothing like the rough areas of this city. The morning of checkout I notice an EXTRA charge from this hotel of about 120.00. I was confused, tried to piece together but still did not make sense. After talking to receptionist they explained I was charged for damages, (I never damaged anything, rarely spent time in room). I ask for explanation. They named off items that were never in the room such as “bathroom mat”, there was never a mat in the bathroom. I travel OFTEN and never seen a bathroom mat in any hotel. Then they mention damages to pillows and sheets. At this point, I knew they were just charging me for anything. I can admit to sheet damages due to my hair cap, dye leaked onto sheets and pillow case BUT again I am a frequent traveler this is not the first this has happened at any hotel. This is my first time ever being charge for such ACCIDENT. I accepted that. Not other charges. Me and my significant other spent time at their bar on the 7th floor. After barely being served, the bartender took it upon himself to tip himself without my knowledge. I was not satisfied with anything besides rooftop movie.

The room itself was incredibly dark with limited natural light and the lighting in the room was also not bright enough to off set that. The hall leading to the room was not pleasing to the eye either but the biggest problem was that room was so incredibly dark. I noticed there was a tower affiliated with the hotel with large windows and a probably much better view (especially in contrast to the man that worked at Google sitting in his window and staring into ours). Not sure why I was not given a room with better daylight-a better view. I have noticed in the past when I book through Expedia instead of directly through the hotel I seem to get a lesser choice. And there were no VIP services. Overall. Poor.

We stayed at the Emily Hotel for 2 nights . It was a beautiful location and very walkable. The Fora restaurant was very nice . The rooms could use some updating as well as the hallways. It would have also been nice to have room service

Vey beautiful lobby. Staff was very nice, and it’s very close to the CTA! We saved a ton of money. We also enjoyed the bar and fire pits. My biggest issue was a bathroom, mainly the tub. It’s an awful design! If you’re short you’ll have a time getting in and out of that monstrosity! I’m 5’9 and thank goodness for that bad, but make sure you have a towel down or you will slip and fall!

The Emily Hotel staff, especially the Food & Bev manager Amilcar de Silva, were friendly, helpful, and attentive. The two queen accessible room was excellent for our needs. The restaurant had great food and service.

Had a wonderful experience at the Emily Hotel by myself. The staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating. For the price of the rooms, I was expecting something a little nicer.. Everything just seemed a bit outdated. Other than that, it was an extremely pleasant experience. Very close to lots of shops and dining choices, had valet parking for $75 a night, or your other parking option was to try to find parking a couple blocks down. Take that however you see it. I would stay at the Emily Hotel again if I were by myself but if I was with a S/O or friends I would probably find something better or more spacious just because the rooms are very small.

We had a wonderful time celebrating a birthday weekend in Chicago! This hotel was amazing, one of the nicest properties we've ever stayed at. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the restaurant food was excellent.

Good, not great…
I love experiencing and trying out boutique hotels over mainstream hotels and The Emily is super cute. We were only there overnight, but here are my issues with the hotel: there is no parking garage nearby and overnight valet is $73. Street parking begins at 6 am, so you either have to pay for valet or move your car at the crack of dawn. The vibe is modern, but the room was very dusty in corners and places not usually observed, but I’m meticulous, so I noticed. The shower has no door. It’s just a half glass wall. For me, that allows for a lot of splashing onto the floor towel and it also provides a draft with no full enclosure, especially if you love hot showers. Not a fan of half glass enclosures. Also, the hallways are dark and dull. They feel sad. Lastly, the male barista at the coffee shop was super rude and uninviting. Didn’t greet or even smile at me. The in-room offerings were great, including snacks and full sized spirits for purchase. Overall, I’d give it a 4/5. (Didn’t try any restaurants/food.)

The hotel was nice and in a great area. But it’s very expensive, no one came by to clean until 4 pm one day (at which point we were back in our room after being out all day), and from the second floor, I could hear both the music on the roof and everything on the street, all night, not to mention people in the halls. Bring ear plugs.
