I recently stayed at La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Chicago Downtown for 2 days and 3 nights with my daughter, and unfortunately, our experience did not meet expectations. While I appreciate the central location, several issues detracted from our stay: Key Card and Elevator Inconvenience: Upon check-in, we were given an unactivated key card for our room on the 7th floor. This caused significant inconvenience, especially since the elevator required a key card swipe to operate, making it challenging to manage with our luggage. Breakfast Experience: The breakfast options were extremely limited, with no accommodations for dietary restrictions. Despite requesting an egg without ham or bacon, the staff could not provide alternatives, and the waffle batter was frequently empty and not replenished during the breakfast hours. There was also no oatmeal, and only dry cereal was available. As a result, we had to eat breakfast outside all three days. Luggage Storage Fee: On our last day, we were surprised to be charged a fee to store our luggage, which is typically a complimentary service at many hotels. While I understand challenges may arise, these issues impacted our overall experience, and I hope they can be addressed for future guests.

Same thing for breakfast both days is the only thing I didn't care for. Would have been nice to have an omelet bar in place of biscuits and gravy both days. The staff is friendly and helpful and the room was clean. Parking was conveniently close, although very expensive as expected for downtown Chicago. Ultimately, I would stay there again.

It's just okay.
Too expensive for what you get. 1. Mechanical noises throughout the night (strange door locking noise, fridge, radiator vents, etc) 2. Water in the shower did not get hot. I don't hot showers and even I felt cold in the shower. 3. Stopper on the bathroom door was broken 4. Temperature in the room was not easy to change 5. Temperature in the room was not maintained. It would be cold, then hot, then cold again. 6. Breakfast was normal continental. Not good. 7. Location is downtown. However, everything (coffee places, chipotle,etc) was closed on the weekends and restaurants were crazy expensive. Stay outside of the city center and you will have a better time in Chicago. I read the reviews and thought this would be a nice place. As someone that stays in hotels very often, this place is 3 out of 5 stars and I would not repeat. You can do better.

The bed was so bad I couldn’t sleep. You can tell the mattresses are very old. I had to ask a few times for clean towels. We stayed there 4 nights and they only came to clean our room once. They ran out of breakfast food so they had to shut down the waffle area. They need to do better.

Very close to theaters and restaurants, easy to get to via the train and other transportation. Clean and quiet and very good value.
