We were excited to stay here, but unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. Before our arrival, we had tried to amend our booking for an extra night, but the hotel was fully booked, and the staff were less than helpful during that process. Upon check-in, we were offered an upgrade, but only at an additional cost per night, despite the already high price of our four-night stay. We had also emailed in advance re an upgrade as it was our anniversary and a special birthday - this was ignored.
The room itself was a real letdown. It was very very small (could hardly get the ironing board up, one of us would get dressed in the bathroom etc...) incredibly dark, and the temperature was either too hot or freezing, with no comfortable middle ground. The bathroom light was automatic, which seemed convenient at first but turned out to be quite frustrating, especially in the middle of the night, as it wouldn’t turn off quickly.
For such an excellent location, we were extremely disappointed with the view, which looked directly onto a wall of hotel windows—not what we had expected based on what we'd seen online, or indeed - had paid.
After spending five packed days in the stunning city of Chicago, I can confidently say that there are better hotels for a lower price. You pay a premium in this area for the view - of which there was none. We had a much more enjoyable stay at the hotel across the water for that 1 night, and I would recommend staying there instead.
