We had a fantastic stay at the Cowsheds. On arrival we checked in and got our key, which was in the kitchen/ dinner area, there was also a huge victoria sponge and tea and coffee available. I thought it was a nice touch after our journey down. Our room was great, the roof beams just finished the room off. The ensuite bathroom was fabulous rollneck bath with huge shower. The breakfast was amazing, full English, all locally sourced produce. I would recommend this place to anyone, we are going to stay there again, very soon.
The room was fabulous as was the breakfast. The only minute criticism you could have was that it needs a signpost on the road to tell you where it is. Just a sign post saying "The Cowsheds" is all it needs.
other than that the place is fantastic and if ever in the area we will be back.
Beautifully decorated, top end throughout with lovely and thoughtful little touches...homemade cake and drinks on arrival, slippers for each guest and selection of toiletries.Breakfast was delicious.Local products with lots of choice and made to order. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
I was in the an excellent two storey one double bed self contained apartment with kitchen and impressive lounge. All very tastefully done.
two small gripes - unfortunately the bedroom TV had poor reception so only had two channels, but not doubt that will be fixed and I would prefer a bar of soup as opposed to lotion and no flannel - perhaps I am showing my age :).
Again, I stress, lovely.
A lovely b&b. We stayed in 'Wednesday' which also benefited from a separate seating area. Bed was very comfy. Whole room was decorated beautifully. Delicious cake on arrival and yummy breakfast. Thre only thing missing for me was a bit more storage in the bathroom. Otherwise it was spot on. Would defo stay here again
Beautiful decor. Rooms were gorgeous and the breakfast was really good too. Lovely touches.. there was cake available on arrival and a small fridge in the room. Bed was very comfy.
Extremely unique property in beautiful surroundings. Check in was a simple self-help procedure with help on call if required. The facilities available for use were excellent in the kitchen/dining area. A very detailed welcome pack left no questions unanswered. The room was amazing, beautifully converted and very cosy but with all mod cons. A great night’s sleep followed by a delicious, freshly cooked breakfast of your choice. Excellent all round!
We stayed for 2 nights in the ‘Monday’ room, everything about our stay was fantastic. The rooms are very tastefully decorated as are all the facilities, the little extra touches are splendid no need to bring; shampoos, conditioner, bath or shower gels as all are provided and smell wonderful (cowshed brand).
The Victoria sandwich cake ready in the refrigerator on arrival was a lovely welcome as were the choices of teas and coffee available.
I noticed someone had complained in their review that the owner is not on site, however I found everything we needed including contact telephone details for the owner if needed and far from finding this a problem I thought this was a much welcome relief as I personally prefer our own company.
The breakfast was delicious and the lovely lady cooking breakfast was delightful and very accommodating (lots of choice).
The room was cleaned and towels replaced whilst we were out during the day.
This feels like a very upmarket boutique stay and excellent value. I would definitely recommend this beautiful accommodation and compliment the owner on how she has decorated throughout
We stayed in the room which had the barbecue on our bathroom wall - nobody used it but could have been problematic. Especially as the bathroom window was clear glass! That's more of a faux pas in my opinion as closing the blind also highlighted that the mirror lights didn't work - which was due to a faulty light switch. I did forget to report it but you'd have thought that it would have been noticed when the rooms were cleaned?
That's the sum total of the 'bad bits' as everything else was perfectly fine.
Would we stay again?
Of course we would - just as long as the bathroom windows get re-glazed and the barby gets moved! ;-)
Lovely rural venue with plenty of space, rooms are in keeping with a rustic feel. the little touches are nice, cake on arrival and a fabulous hearty breakfast included in the price.
Would definitely recommend to others and stay here again.
Absolutely fantastic. The room was beautifully decorated, clean and with easy parking just outside. Check-in was seamless (we essentially checked ourselves in) and breakfast was delightful. Would stay here again in a heartbeat and highly recommend it to anyone. There were so many little lovely touches with made our stay a dream - from a free slice of freshly homemade cake at check-in, their own toiletries to use during your stay (which you can also purchase) as well as books and board games in the room. You can really see the effort put into each room and the care and attention to detail for guests to enjoy their stay.
Excellent accomodation conveniently located for Chippenham where I was visiting for work. I have booked several times at the Cowsheds and have always have a very comfortable stay.
A very beautiful hotel. Very cosy, clean and comfortable room. Bed & pillows were superb; you don’t feel like leaving the bed. The toiletries were of high quality. The bathroom was beautiful too. Wifi was strong. The breakfast cooked was excellent. Many varieties of hot drinks to choose ie many types of coffee, tea. Staff in the dining area was helpful and accommodating. We checked in late and there’s no one to attend to us. However, the instructions on self check in was clear. No problem with self check in. We really enjoyed our stay here. It was a wonderful experience and we really felt at home. We will definitely come to stay here again.
The Cowsheds was a really unusual and lovely property! We stayed in the Wednesday room, and it was very spacious! The check-in is pretty much self-service, and you have to search for anyone to ask questions of, but the room and bed were quite comfortable. The only issue beyond the strangeness of not really seeing any host, is that it's pretty close to the M4, and you can hear the traffic all night.

Love this place!!
One of the most quaint and charming places I’ve ever stayed (and I travel a lot). Clean rooms. Comfortable bed. Nice shower. Modern but rustic decor. Lovely breakfast. Hosts were wonderful. Would stay again in a heartbeat.
The property is lovely with great parking available. There is little on the doorstep to do but a short drive away and there is plenty. The breakfast was good as were the tea/coffee/cake on offer at all times. The only thing that could do with changing is the awkward check in times, check in is slightly later than others B&Bs and check out at 10am was too early. Breakfast times were therefore also on the early side, was not leaving too much time to relax.
