Detailed tile floors, stone accent walls, and wall colors reminiscent of the desert sun make this home a unique New Mexico retreat. Settle in around one of two wood stoves, all set up with comfortable couches and chairs for long chats. The home's large common area includes a sweeping view of the surrounding mountains, enjoyable from the cafe-style dining table or the sofa. Take in some fresh air on the wide furnished deck. But we imagine you'll spend a lot of time hanging out in the full kitchen, which is all set up for cooking with gorgeous stone countertops, a kitchen island with room for three guests to enjoy an informal meal, and glass cabinets to help you find exactly what you need. Oven mitts and dish towels are set above the counter to help with space. The French door fridge is set right next to the dining area, so guests can easily meander over and grab a drink at any point of the night. There's a reason why board games are provided!

This home is all one level, so you won't have to climb any stairs to get to bed. The first (and main) bedroom is just to the right as you walk through the door and features a king-size log bed, a three-window view of the valley overlooking the deck, and an en suite bathroom with a standalone shower through swinging saloon doors. Head into the living room past the wood stove, and you'll find the next two bedrooms just beyond. Bedrooms two and three each include a queen-size log bed and a two-window view of the surrounding valley. The full bathroom with a shower/tub combination between the two bedrooms can serve these guests. The final bedroom can truly be called a lounge bedroom - this comfy space includes the home's second wood stove, a mounted TV, a comfortable sofa and two armchairs, and an entire dining table setup that's also perfect for board games. The room's two queen beds are set at the back of the room, as well as a nightstand and a separate dresser.

We would absolutely stay here again. Very quiet, beautiful, rooms are a good size, more than enough room for a family of 5.

Very nice views, lots of beds, warm and cozy, well appointed kitchen, knives could us some sharpening. While the living room furniture is comfortable it is a tad too big for the space.

Mouse infestation
The house has a great layout and was perfect for our party of 5. The location is great and the views are amazing! However... The tub, floor, towels, and dishes were all dirty. There were long black hairs in the towels and the tub. Given the outrageous cleaning fee, I expected the house to be clean. It wasn't. The paint is coming off the wall in the bathroom and it was obvious the place hadn't been vacuumed for quite some time. The bathroom and bedroom doors need some WD40 to fix the loud squeaking. And last but not least, is the mouse infestation. Our food on the counter was eaten, beds had mouse droppings. There are mouse droppings all over the garage and the floor of the rec room. It's a great house, but needs a good cleaning and an exterminator.

Beautiful Property
House is larger than I realized in pictures and has a nice open layout for visiting family. Location is far enough away from the highway that road noise is non existent. Really has a good setup with the larger deck and seating everywhere as well. Only down fall is there was an obvious mouse problem. Droppings were noticeable in the corners of a couple of the rooms and mouse traps were laying around as well. Unsure if there was mice actively running around at night or if the droppings were not cleaned up from before we arrived, either way, not cool. Property management should be able to get on top of that and resolve the issues with a little effort.

Very favorable impression with everything, except no Elk sightings (June, '23). Maybe wrong season, oh well? Plenty of prairie dogs, rabbits for entertainment...

Would be ideal EXCEPT...
We decided to give this property another try after our summer stay. The location is ideal to all things we want to do and other family in the area. House was definitely cleaner than our last stay, however, the evidence of mice was apparent. There were traps everywhere and mouse poop in the kitchen along with the garage/ping pong room. Not too big of a deal as this is spring time in the mountains and mice are coming in to stay warm. I get it. The biggest issue that no one could over come was the the lack of hot water. Noticed it the first night there, but assumed it was just taking a while to get to the back of the house, so we skipped bathing for the first night. Second day we were gone most of the day and noticed again in the evening that NO HOT WATER. Called the 800 number to vacasa and the local property manager ( I assume) finally called back. Was a bit insulting as to what to do and spoke to me as if I were a 2 year old child (I have been a property owner and in the construction industries for many years and I know all about reverse faucets, etc). They sent a handyman out on Saturday (day 3 of our stay) who assertained a problem for sure as the insta=hot was making hot water but it wasn't pushing to the rest of the house. He was unable to fix. Property manager indicated that she would credit us for 2 days of our stay. To date, I haven't seen the credit, but will wait a few more days. This property has soooooo much potential. There are many other choices for property managers and local companies that really care about the homes in their portfolio. Vacasa is the biggest issue here. Their fees are excessive and extremely high. I wish the property owners would wise up and use a local company to manage their property. As a former VRBO owner, the only reason I can ascertain why the owners do not switch, is that their contract with VACASA has them strapped in for many years. Really sad.

The house was beautiful and well maintained. Excellent location, close to trails, fishing, and lots of wildlife. Only thing that I would mention is the address list it as in Angel Fire and it is not, it is Eagles Nest. Would stay here again.
