Wonderful Stay
Amazing wonderful stay in Colchester once again. We’ve stayed at this hotel several times before. On the plus side we were given a free upgrade to a wonderful room with the balcony. Hotel is part of the George Hotel which I strongly recommend for a Sunday lunch. All staff at hotel were amazing

The hotel is in a very busy part of town, consequently it was noisy late into the morning. Car parking is very difficult to find near by, and the one way system is a pain if you miss your turning.

Hotel in a central position, which has positives in that it's easy to get to, but the drawback is that you hear people as they leave the pubs, bars, clubs etc. I still think it's worth it though. Especially with their connection to The George Hotel

The parking is not on site in the way you find at most other hotels that say they have some parking. On arrival could not see any gated parking area. When we eventually located the George Hotel to checkin we were met by a kind gentleman who we later had to call via the contact number on the website because the room was piping hot and the thermostat control panel was centrally locked, we could not change the temperature and we found out that the rooms on each floor were linked together by the thermostat. We could definitely hear the noise from the rowdy streets and with the centrally poised smoke alarm light which kept blinking throughout the night- in combination made it difficult to get to sleep. Booked a Deluxe room and was very dissappointed in the lack of “Deluxe” feel to the room. Stain marks all over the room’s woodwork and the wall with a terrible smell that was difficult to distinguish its origin present all night. The stain marks continue to the bathroom- all over the woodwork again, the bathroom shower glass door was detached at the bottom making it free hanging it was not clean, had large white stain was present on the outside corner, and the shower head needed a clean too, its change of settings button was not working making it impossible to get a decent jet for a proper shower. Have taken some pictures Overall left a whole lot to be desired in terms of cleanliness aesthetics and temperature controlling. My suggestion is that it needs a good clean and revamp!

Checked in okay and the people at the front desk were lovely. The main building looked very nice and was done up well. I was in the part across the road which didn’t look as nice at all. Getting in was all fine but when I entered the room, there were bright green stains all over the floor, marks all over the walls, the toilet seat had a stain the whole way around it and there was hair EVERYWHERE…the more you looked, the more you found

Great location. Terrific value.
City-centre location excellent though ear plugs essential on a Saturday night! TV remote control needs replacing as some essential buttons didn’t work. A mattress topper would have helped the comfort level. Lovely firm mattress and super-king bed but with a king duvet inside a super-king cover, which was annoying.

The bed was very clean but uncomfortable (rock hard) However, I didn’t appreciate that the toiletries were not changed… so we had the mini body cream that had been used and had someone else’s hair in it… that was pretty disgusting. The location is excellent. It wasn’t too noisy, and there was a fan (no a/c). Overall it was fine for the price paid but I think the cleaners need to be informed…

I was disappointed as this was a deluxe room and cost us more money, but wasn’t as nice or as spacious as the room I had, when I stayed there previously, and that was just a double room. Also had a large balcony but with broken slabs and no table and chairs to sit on Also the fire alarm went off and woke me up, and I didn’t really know what to do. It went off for about 5 minutes.

Nice hotel small outside but big rooms
Nice huge room however no air con and the view was disappointing, also when directed to our room was told 2nd floor incorrectly. Minor inconvenience but frustrating
