Retreat to our Rustic Cabin, nestled atop a serene 20-acre mountaintop, providing the ideal escape from the daily grind. This enchanting cabin is a testament to exquisite handmade craftsmanship, boasting all-wood logs and reclaimed barnwood floors and ceilings that radiate rustic charm. The living area is anchored by a magnificent stone wood-burning fireplace, perfect for unwinding with a glass of wine.
Surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature, you may catch glimpses of deer grazing nearby or hear the gentle rustle of leaves as birds flit through the trees. Delight in the unique custom Moonlit window, which fills the interior with natural light and frames a stunning night's sky. Begin your mornings with awe-inspiring panoramic vistas and the soothing sounds of nature as you enjoy your coffee on the wrap-around porch.
As night falls, the cabin transforms into a stargazer's paradise. With minimal light pollution, the sky comes alive with a dazzling display of stars, and on clear nights, you might even catch a glimpse of the Milky Way stretching across the heavens. They do call this "God's Country" afterall. The distant call of coyotes adds to the enchanting nighttime ambiance, creating a truly immersive experience in nature's embrace.
Adventure enthusiasts will find plenty to do, with opportunities for snowmobiling, hiking, biking, kayaking, fishing, and riding quads on the property and surrounding trails. Stargazers will appreciate the dark skies, with Cherry Springs and nearby state parks like Lyman Run and the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon offering even more exploration.
Access to the cabin requires a 4x4/AWD/SUV or crossover with clearance. Electric heaters on each floor provide the main source of heat, with adjustable controls on each unit. For those comfortable with a wood-burning stove, it adds ambiance, with wood provided at the cabin. Guests are encouraged to bring their own wood as well. Detailed instructions for safe use are available in the binder.
Winter Access Note (Dec. 1 - March 31): Due to winter conditions, access may require an ATV/snowmobile. Rentals are limited to guests who bring their own 4x4 ATVs, side-by-sides, or snowmobiles. Alternatively, guests can use our side-by-side (Gator) at no charge, with a waiver required. The cabin road features 3/4 mile of switchbacks, and snow/ice conditions make it unsafe for trucks and SUVs. Parking is available at the mountain base for trucks and trailers. The Potter County Snowmobile Club is just 1.3 miles away, with local roads designated for ATV/snowmobile use.
Winter in Potter County is a snowmobiler's paradise, with miles of groomed and ungroomed trails accessible from the nearby Potter County Snowmobile Club. Check out the trail map in our photo gallery. This area is widely considered one of the best counties to snowmobile in all of PA.

Me and my wife stayed with our two coonhounds and loved it. We brought our own sxs to access the cabin with the deep snow and parked the truck and trailer down at the road. The cabin was beautiful and had everything we needed. We enjoyed using the wood stove to keep the cabin nice and toasty! We would definitely visit again! Amy and Rich were so friendly and very responsive throughout our stay!

The property and cabin was the perfect place for a quiet getaway. We loved exploring the area and hiking with our dog. The cabin was cozy and very welcoming and the views were spectacular. We had some rain but even that was calming and relaxing. It’s great place to get away and recharge.

What a special place! We feel fortunate to have the opportunity to stay at the Moonlit Cabin. They are not kidding about needing a vehicle that can climb up the mountain drive. I had to take a video as we made our way up in our rented jeep wrangler. You may even get a glimpse of wildlife on the drive up. The cabin is situated on top of a hill with grass all around. There are numerous outdoor chairs and an outdoor firepit and picnic table. The cabin is cozy and comfortable. The kitchen is well appointed. The spiral staircase to the loft isn’t for everyone, but we managed well enough, leave a light on if you need to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. The moon shaped window is a unique highlight of the cabin. We enjoyed the sunrise and sunsets. We enjoyed stargazing from the chairs by the firepit. I don’t believe we turned on the tv at all, because the views are wonderful. Loved our stay and hope to come again.

Private cozy cabin

We had a wonderful stay at Moonlit Cabin. It’s a beautiful cabin, very clean, and cozy. Communication with the owners was clear and timely. The property is private with 360 degree views from the wrap around porch. We really enjoyed the use of the outdoor fire pit in the evenings and the view of the stars was amazing. We also had a great time exploring several of the state parks and trails in the area. Definitely recommend this cabin.

A Stellar Experience!

My trip to this cabin was everything that I was looking for and more! The cabin itself is beyond beautiful and rustic. They really did an amazing job with all the details big and small that make me want to live here forever! Nice trails on the mountain, the birds, the view and close proximity to some of my favorite hiking places. Watching the meteor shower at night was incredible. All that combined made for a stellar trip and I am coming back! Thank you for sharing this gem with all of us!

Unique Cabin on a Mountain

This is a neat place. You are truly surrounded by nature. Traveled with husband and our senior dog to get away from our stressful jobs. All we heard were birds during the day and we were fortunate to have 3 nights of clear skies with so many stars to see. We had so much fun with our dog gathering sticks and cutting up fallen frees for the large fire pit on site. There is an ax provided, and my husband also brought his wood saw. A few notes. The cabin can sleep 4 but it would be tight as there is only one loft bedroom. There isn’t a lot of counter space to prep meals for a family. I also would not recommend anyone with mobility issues or anyone traveling with toddlers stay here. The spiral staircase takes practice maneuvering and regardless, it is a literal hole in the ground a toddler can fall thru. Regardless, the bed and sheets are very comfortable and there are personal touches throughout the cabin that made us smile. (i.e. the countertop, the bathroom door, the moon window). Would definitely recommend staying here for the serenity and star gazing.

By far the best cabin we’ve stayed at in Coudersport. If you are looking for peace, tranquility, and a reset. This cabin offers it all. The night skies look close enough to touch and the cabin is well stocked and well thought out We will be booking again in the future! Thanks!

Relaxing getaway in a beautiful, quiet setting

We stayed for the weekend to enjoy the leaves beginning to change and to experience the dark night skies. The cabin was spotless and included many nice decorative touches. The moon-shaped window is fabulous! The amenities are modern- we used the full kitchen to prepare meals easily. The full wraparound porches and the large fire pit were our favorite spots to enjoy outdoors. I highly recommend this home and would definitely return!

Moonlit Cabin is Adorable

The cabin is well-crafted and so homey, especially when the wood-fired stove is burning. We lit the stove as soon as we got there, as it was very cold inside the cabin when we arrived. The outside fire pit was also appreciated, as the weather was warm enough to enjoy some outdoor time. There is an ample supply of wood. The spiral staircase that leads to the bedroom was a little tricky to navigate. We were worried that our elderly dog would take a tumble down the stairs to the basement, so we had to block off the area around the stairs with some chairs. Although we planned this visit to see the stars, unfortunately, it was cloudy while we were there. However, I can understand that this must be a beautiful spot to sit and watch the skies. There are trails around the cabin that we were able to walk, which was nice. If you have a quad, I’m sure it’d be a lot of fun to use them here. The driveway leading to the house has some switchbacks, which we were able to navigate with my husband‘s truck, but it was a little dicey as it was very muddy when we visited. There was also quite a bit of food left in the refrigerator and freezer, which was surprising. Overall, this is a good place to visit and the surrounding area has several beautiful parks. If you’re able to see the skies on a clear night, enjoy!

Magical Little Place

The cabin and town are not large and the staircase could be difficult to handle if you’re unsure of foot. But I cannot recommend Moonlit Cabin enough! It was beautiful, cozy, and well maintained. There are a number of incredible sights to see nearby such as: The Pennsylvania Grand Canyon Cherry Springs: dark sky preserve Allegheny National Forest And many others, and not to mention Niagara Fall being a good day trip away. Everything about the cabin and its hilltop was just charming and felt miles and miles from anything despite town being just a 10 minute drive. My wife and I loved it and hope to return someday!
