Holidays in Cougar

When chucking a sickie becomes way too simple, it's time to abandon the corporate treadmill and say hello to Cougar!

The country's capital, Washington, is located about 3,700 kilometres to the east of Cougar.

The tranquil sounds of nature await you at Mount St. Helens. It's located just 20 kilometres away, so you don't have to be on the road all day. Ape Caves, 11 kilometres away, is one more popular option.

Spend your hours alternating between the frosty slopes and a glowing fire at Mount Hood Meadows and Summit Ski Area. From new recruits to those who know their stuff, there's something for everyone at these snow-covered wonderlands.

Interested in stopping by the Pomeroy Living History Farm and the North Clark Historical Museum? They're not far from the centre of Amboy, 18 kilometres to the southwest. Alternatively, travel to Yacolt. It's 20 kilometres to the south of Cougar and regarded for Battle Ground Lake State Park and Ape Cave Lava Tubes.

You may feel the urge to stay in Kelso for a little while. This destination is 45 kilometres to the west and close to Three Rivers Mall, the Three Rivers Golf Course and the Cowlitz County Historical Museum. A few other nearby attractions are Tam O'Shanter Park and Lake Sacajawea Park.

Spending some time in the great outdoors can quieten the mind. If you're feeling on edge, why not slow down and go shore fishing or beach combing?

Whether you would prefer to be on, in or around it, everybody loves the water! Why not add a little more excitement to your getaway by going scuba diving and sea kayaking?

There's a whole world of fresh flavours waiting to meet your taste buds in Southwest Washington. With so many delicious things to feast on, all you need to bring with you is a hearty appetite — and perhaps your stretchiest slacks.

If you're flicking through a menu, there's every chance you'll see dishes with crab or apples. They're just some ingredients which are commonly used in the cuisine here.

Food, art and music — national celebrations show the best of what a country has to offer. Be sure to join hands with the locals on Independence Day on the 4th of July.

Portland International Airport (PDX) is the nearest terminal, 55 kilometres to the south. Ensure you leave yourself more than enough time to get there.
