Peaceful Stay
This house is great if you’re looking to get away but still be close to Tuscaloosa. We had a group of 10 and all slept comfortably. Plenty of room in the living and kitchen. We sat outside one night around a fire. This house is off the beaten path so it’s just you. Beds were comfortable and we had plenty of towels for the shower. I will stay here again.

Stayed only one night. It was a nice place. I guess I was a little surprised by all the taxidermy. The house itself was really interesting.

One night stay
Daniel was very pleasant and easy to work with. The house is an old house, it had some updating but it would take a lot to completely update the house

Not finest country living
The house needed a lot of work and what was worked on inside and out was totally done cheaply and without any skill whatsoever. I did not scrutinize the pictures of this house when booking it, but once we arrived we could see everything, no baseboards, dirty, swarms of bees outside on the porch. The outside was worse with the backyard full of wasps. Your view from sitting outside was a half open lean-to with piles of junk in it. The porch was inhabitable and dirty. There was no grate on the gas grill. The kitchen cabinets were all dirty to the touch and even the dishes and glasses were dirty. There was taxidermy everywhere, which I have no problem with, but sleeping with a stuffed coyote and bobcat and deer was kind of creepy. They used "Great Stuff" to seal the floor to the walls. My husband couldn't sleep because he kept hearing footsteps and noises around the house. Neither of us slept well, so we left at 4:30 a.m. I could go on and on, but I think that is enough. We will never be back.

Smelled bad and musty
First impression of quaintness guickly succumbed to sticky countertops, soft places in the floor, stinkbugs inside everywhere, and broke table leg in the breakfast nook.

Everything we needed!
This place felt like walking into an old family home. Everything about it was welcoming. More charm here than can be explained if you just slow down to take it all in. We needed a place to stay after my son’s football game and I wish we had stayed longer! We will be back!

Enjoyable each time
We’ve stayed in the property 3 times now and have a h time was great. Clean, very friendly owners and comfortable beds. We didn’t need anything fancy, just a clean safe place to sleep and that’s exactly what it was! We will be back again soon when visiting our kids at Bama.

Perfect stopping point
This house was a perfect alternative to a hotel for us. We were just traveling through the area with trailers and bikes and didn’t want to stay at a hotel. The accommodations were exactly as listed. We will stay here again if we are back in the area.

Our teenage boys loved it!
Was about what we expected from the photos and descriptions. We thought it was on the lake, but the kids didn’t mind the short hike. The boys loved it and the 9 year old wanted to take the taxidermy home with us - the coyote and raccoon were her favorites. Lol

House of horrors
We arrived at this house couldn’t see what the exact address was. It was very late at night more like early morning 1 AM. We compare the pictures on the website with some of the features in the home so we knew we were at the right place. This place was a House of horrors, my family was too scared to stay there. The bedrooms were dirty and the linens bedspread was filthy. The windows in the bunk bedroom were broken and the screens were ripped! The paneling on the walls were bowed out, the furniture in the whole house was dirty and dusty! The living room couch was stained so much you wouldn’t wanna sit on it, in the floor in the living room sink down in one spot in the middle. The French doors were unlocked, and the lock did not work! After trying to put a chair wedged under the door knob and it didn’t work we decided to leave! The whole house is filled with taxidermy stuffed animals, and disgustingly filthy. Short closets throughout the house nailed shut! Never saw the washer or dryer. Even the neighborhood looked rundown. Is this some kind of a Halloween joke!!! This guy must’ve paid people or family members to write good reviews because there was nothing good about this house. I am going to fight for my money back! VRBO needs to look into this mess!

Old house charm
Found this place for us to stay while my daughter attended a camp at the University of Alabama. It was about a 20 minute drive and worth it! This home had so much character, charm, and nostalgia. It reminded me of my Grandmother & Papa's home. I absolutely loved the quiet & peacefulness during the day while my daughter was off at camp. In the evening we went exploring down the trail to the pond, which was a nice walk down the path and to the left. Take some bugspray with you for that if you want to hangout down there. Daniel's communication was always prompt. If we are ever in the area would definitely stay again!

LOVED Our Stay
What a wonderful property. There is no doubt that the lodge is a "handyman's special" but that truly added to the country charm. The house was built in the 1930s, so certainly could use repairs, but it's an old home. There was absolutely nothing that interfered with our being comfortable. The property is beautiful. The interior of the home was CLEAN (so clean!), comfy, cozy, and extremely welcoming. The kitchen was well stocked with appliances. Daniel was a very generous host. Being able to bring pets is super helpful! I could certainly see the Lodge being a great location for a party/get together, but we really enjoyed staying the week. We will be staying here again.
