Idyllic Cottage in Heart of Devon Countryside
Summary:
Cosy and charming, this cottage in the heart of Devon will delight you as soon as you arrive. The building is a converted old stable block and sits in a picturesque gated driveway which was once part of the immaculate Bridwell Estate. Inside, interiors ooze contemporary comfort and there’s space for up to seven guests. From evenings snuggled up in front of the fire to alfresco meals under the stars - enjoy a peaceful getaway with the countryside on your doorstep.
The Space:
If you’re on the hunt for an idyllic getaway in a charming cottage, look no further. This freshly renovated home in the heart of Devon is surrounded by gorgeous countryside. Enjoy sunny afternoons out in the garden, which is backed only by trees. Read your favourite book to the gentle sounds of nature, take a wander into the Bridwell Estate and dine alfresco-style on warm nights.
Inside, find a welcoming home that’s been thoughtfully decorated with calming hues and high-quality furnishings. The living room is the perfect spot to retreat to after a long day, especially when it’s cold outside and the fire’s roaring. The contemporary kitchen is kitted out with everything you need to rustle up delicious meals: from an electric hob and oven to a dishwasher, microwave and ample utensils. Then, gather around the farmhouse dining table to feast and plan your days.
Upstairs, three well-sized bedrooms sleep five guests in total, plus a sofa bed in the living room accommodates an extra two. The master bedroom has a double bed, whilst next door there’s a twin and a single room. All share a family bathroom with a separate waterfall shower and bath. With the Blackdown Hills a stone's throw away and Exeter just down the M5, this is the perfect home-away-from-home in beautiful Devon.
Guest Access:
Guests have access to the whole cottage and garden, as well as the private gated driveway.
The Neighborhood:
Pipkin Cottage is located in a private, gated driveway that was originally part of the Bridwell Park Estate. Nestled away in the village of Uffculme, the estate (which was hidden from public view for over 240 years) spans over 100 acres and now boasts the wonderful Orangery Cafè. Enjoy a delicious brunch or lunch with deer ducks and swans roaming the grounds. The Estate also plays host to an inspired calendar of events throughout the year, from community gatherings to Artisan & Makers Markets.
In the local village of Uffculme, you’ll find a few amenities such as the local pub - The Ostler Inn - as well as Old Well Garden Centre. That said, you’re well-situated to enjoy all that the Blackdown Hills and East Devon has to offer. Whether it’s long countryside rambles you’re after, National Trust houses, adventure parks or railway centres.
Cullumpton, Willand, Tiverton and Taunton are all just 10-15 minutes away. As is the Taunton golf course. Meanwhile, Exeter city centre is just a 30-minute drive, boasting a vibrant high street with independent shops, bars and restaurants. Plus, the stunning Exeter Cathedral, ancient city walls, underground passages and the quay. In 20-minutes, you can reach the pretty fishing village of Topsham, which stands on the edge of the Exe Estuary. Wander around antique shops, enjoy fabulous fish and chips and visit the famous Darts Farm (with a play area, restaurant, farm walk, bike hire and fishing pond).
For coastal days out, there’s Exmouth, Budleigh Salterton, Sidmouth and Beer to name a few. Or, head into Dartmoor National Park to explore incredible waterfalls, ancient woodland, tors, views and more! Find all our local tips and tricks in our Guest Guide, which is available on booking.
Getting Around:
We would recommend bringing a car to make the most of your stay. There are 3 private parking spaces directly in front of the property.
Other Things to Note:
Please note that caravans or trailers are not permitted to park at the cottage due to a covenant on the land.
We welcome one well-behaved dog (£20 per pet). It is on the condition they are not allowed on any of the soft furnishings or upstairs. If you would like to bring more than one dog, please get in touch.
