Walked in and there were 3 employees at the counter. Noone spoke or acknowledged that my family and i were there, and 2 of the employees started to walk away from the desk, so i said “hello! How are yall? We are ready to check in” in a jovial manner. The short guy immediately got an attitude and i tried to laugh it off. As we were checking in and attempting to present ids and pay, he was very defensive, not polite or pleasant in any way, and threatened numerous times to cancel the reservation. It was late, after 10 pm, i had worked 13+ hours, was exhausted, physically worn out, and was not up for a rude clerk. We try to stay in tru hotels bc of the fun atmosphere with the pool tables and inviting lounge, so i was doing everything I could to avoid a confrontation. I was asked for payment, and slid my card. The clerk asked to “validate” the card, so i held it out for him to take. He glanced at it and looked back down. I asked if he was done so i could put the card away. He said he was. I asked if he had “validated” the card. I was confused by his request and wanted to understand what he was asking for. I asked if he only needed to see the card. In my experience, “validation “ would require entering a card number into a system or calling a bank. I stated “if you only needed to see the card you could just say that for clarification” and the clerk threatened again to cancel the reservation. I explained that i was only trying to understand his request. He continued to threaten tbc
