Been partying too much after work? Desperate for a break and a few early nights? Domoni has your name all over it. It sits among the beaches, coastal plains and sandy beaches of Comoros — nice and off the well-worn tourist trail. (We reckon you'll feel so relaxed, you'll be under the covers by sunset!)

From Domoni, venture about 150 kilometres northwest to get to the renowned city of Moroni.

If you've got enough time, why not head to a few nearby destinations? Anjouan and Mtsamboro are 17 kilometres and 75 kilometres away, respectively.

Shore fishing and picnicking are fabulous ways to give yourself some time out if your busy travel itinerary has left you feeling frazzled.

Looking for some fun on the water? Then slap on the sunscreen and take your inner aqua-lover swimming or canoeing.

It's difficult to say what you're going to find behind the doors of the region's history museums, but you can be sure it'll be fascinating!

You may be eating yourself into a bigger set of trousers, but fresh fruit is definitely worth it. This favourite dessert will put your taste buds into overdrive with just a glance.

You're travelling all the way to the Comoros region, so why not put in a little extra effort to learn a handful of phrases in the local tongue? It will make your whole experience that little bit more fulfilling. 'Je suis de…' means 'I am from..'. Perhaps you'll find 'Joyeux anniversaire' easier to say? This means 'happy birthday'.

Celebrated throughout many parts of the country, Independence Day occurs on the 6th of July. If you're going to be here at this time, it'll be hard not to get swept up in the exciting atmosphere!

When your holiday is over and it's time to say "Au revoir / À bientôt" to Domoni, don't be upset — you can always come back!

Making it to your flight on time can be a bit of an ordeal. However, it won't be too bad if you've made a plan. The nearest terminal, Ouani Airport (AJN), is 18 kilometres to the northwest.
