Adjacent to the hotel is a pub courtyard/beer garden and the noise level from it was appalling. Not just loud music but shouting, swearing, screaming (yes, literally!) and what sounded like drunken fights. Closing the windows was very little help. I tried turning on the TV, but it was drowned out. The noise went on until the wee small hours and sleep was impossible.
The hotel has no redeeming features. Staff are distant and uninterested; they do their job while all but ignoring the guests as people. At breakfast there was plenty of cereal and pastries but the cooked breakfast was reminiscent of wartime rationing.
The bathroom fittings made for awkward use. The tap on the (high) hand basin was so close to the edge, it was not possible to get the hands under it to wash them; likewise the shower head was so close to the wall it wasn't possible to get right underneath it; the towel rail was only big enough to hold the hand towel so the bath towel had to be left on the window sill. Oh, and the toilet roll holder was loose, so the toilet roll kept sliding off.
To top it all off, I noticed a couple of bugs in the carpet.
Unless you yourself spend your nights in the pub getting drunk, yelling swear words and getting into fights, and only want somewhere to sleep off your hangover, I would not recommend this hotel. In fact, avoid it unless there is no other option, and even then think twice.
