I came to Brighton for a two days, one night for work. Work chose the Old Ship Hotel due to low price and proximity to our meeting spot. The exterior of most of the hotels in this area could do with a fresh coat of paint at minimum. The interior was much friendlier and nicer. I stayed as a solo female and felt very safe, even though there were youths partying nearby, they felt jovial rather than threatening. The bed was extremely comfy and I was very very grateful for that. The shower pressure isnt great but it did heat up eventually and i felt clean and warm after showering, which is what you want, really. The view of the sea was fantastic but could not have the window open at night due to noise of the gods of chaos below. Breakfast was absolutely appalling (burnt and poor quality food) and not worth £17 so i left immediately. I would stay again for work but I will not be returning to Brighton for pleasure ever again. All the roadworks apparently didnt update to my SatNav which led me straight into a Bus/Taxi lane and I probably got a ticket. This was my first ever trip to Brighton and I'd heard great things about it, but to be honest, it was as used and tired as a *** ***. I much prefer Bournemouth to Brighton and Cornwall beats them both hands down. But if you MUST stay in Brighton seafront, then Old Ship Hotel is perfectly acceptable.
