The Calafate is a beautiful town, there are many activities to do, The Perito Moreno Glacier is one of the must and The Chaltén another must you do, El Fuerte Hotel has an amazing panoramic view of the city and the lake, the rooms are ok, the food delicious and the service is excellent
It was really amazing. The hotel staff was extremely friendly. Cleanliness was spot on. The buffet breakfast was really good. the view from the hotel was amazing.
I definitely recommend people to stay in here. I haven’t been in a hotel with as good people as this one.
I turned up to this hotel having booked and paid many months previously to be told there was no room for us.(I cant believe they couldn't have emailed me to let me know) The owner said he ha found us another place to stay and that they would throw in a dinner as compensation. the other hotel was nearby,(and I think would have been better than the one we were rejected from). Expedia should look at there booking system as the owner blamed them for there being no room( I didnt believe that) anyway we ended up staying at Tehuel plaza and I would give it 10 out of 10 and thoroughly recomend it as a good place to stay. the dinners they supplied vere very tasty and seemed like home cooked argantine food
The staff made the experience very intimate and lovely as they were very accommodating to us.
The only slight downside was the size of the room and the fact that people would be turned off by the location of the hotel compared to some closer to the centre.
The staff were VERY friendly here! We messed up the dates of our reservation and the owners kept the place open just for us! Couldn’t be happier with the service we recieved.
A good room with a great view. Very helpful people. Only a few minutes drive outside Calafate so ideal if you have a car and only a short taxi ride if not.
Very welcoming and friendly host. Amazing views over the bay. Take binoculars, you might spot flamingos.

Great Views but Small Rooms!
Views are phenomenal here & so is the owner, he’a very friendly & helpful. Food & views at the upstairs restaurant are great! But my room was a little small for my taste & felt quite cramped (bathroom door ran into toilet). It’s also quite far from town (not that walk-able), so if you want to be close to town ~ stay elsewhere!
I absolutely loved staying here. We unfortunately got in late and had to leave early, but our short time there was great. The hotel is run by a father and son who are extremely kind and welcoming. The hotel feels more like a home and is very cozy. The rooms have high ceilings and the entire hotel is wonderfully decorated. Upstairs, there is a restaurant with amazing views overlooking the town and the lake. The chef makes every meal fresh to order and the food is absolutely incredible. If I am ever back in the area, I am most definitely going to be staying here again; I highly recommend it.

Easy access hotel. Great staff
The hotel has an amazing view. Rooms are clean but bathrooms very cramped. Easily accessible as you enter into El Calafate. Perfect stop for the night before flying out.
This hotel is located quite far from the center of the city, but with car it's only better than staying in a busy center. Rooms are not big but super clean. Beds a comfy and breakfast is decent too. the best gem is the owner Gaby, she makes you feel like home. She does her best to accommodate all your needs. Hotel restaurant was closed during our stay but Gaby let us use tableware with the outside food and wine we brought with us. She was super nice and after only 2 nights we felt like knowing each other for ever. She isn't very fluent in English, but does her best to explain every question. Overall we felt very well in this hotel.
Nestor and Gabrielle are excellent hosts! A bit far from the city center but the amazing views make up for that.

Beautiful views from the hotel.
Friendly staff, limited breakfast choices and remarkable selection of provided food (f.e. one little container of jelly with more than plenty bread). Windy spot but we ware given a room at the back where there was very limited wind noise.
You should primarily chose this hotel for the view and the friendly staff.
My husband and I stayed here for 3 days 2 nights! The hotel is very pretty and cozy, more of a rustic look! the beds are not the most confortable beds, will not compare to a Hiltons bed BUT they are very clean, the staff is super friendly and very helpful, it has a gorgeous view to the city and lake, completely serve the purpose for the price! They have a restaurant with really good local food! Will definitely recommend this hotel!!!

The service at this hotel was very good and it was clean. However, the rooms were very outdated and the bathroom and hallways smelled bad. We only stayed for one night. Also, they advertise a TV, but there was only 5 channels and they didn't work half the time.
First, let me say I almost never write reviews although I travel for a living. I cant cant recommend this hotel enough. Nestor, the manager, was welcoming; helpful; courteous; and professional. He went well above what I think excellent service is. The hotel, while not downtown, has great views from the highest point in El Calafate. For the price this hotel is a steal. In all honesty the price doubled I would stay here if I visited El Calafate again.
A run down hotel, this place is not worth it's price in anyway. The rooms are small, which is fine, but the windows are small too so you can barely see the views. The breakfast was laughable, even by Argentine standards. The staff were completely unhelpful and rude. I was belittled by the owner and told to be more 'tranquil' because I wanted a taxi quickly. He was very rude and I do not recommend any women should stay there. He is a horrible representation of the machismo man. And does no speak English
