Good value homely pub
A lovely period property with lots of traditional features. A homely room with plenty of storage space. The beds /bedding was clean and soft. As it is in old pub in the country there were a few cobwebs in the corners! The shower room was a little tired. Nevertheless it was generally clean and comfortable and certainly good value for money.
I had a small portion of fish, chips and pees followed by chocolate brownie in the bar which was tasty. The chips were a little dry. In the morning I had a fried breakfast ( the only choice for breakfast). It needed to be ordered in advance. A good hearty plateful .
Overall I had a nice day at this place and I'm just leaving review to note a few things for improvement .
Cleaning needs to be more thorough in the bathrooms. The mattress should be replaced. Staff were great and food was tasty. Be aware nose floats up from the bar. Once it's closed the place is very quiet.

Adequate for one night stay
Room was basic as per described. Bed was comfortable. Staff were a little forgetful: requested an extra towel - had to be reminded, and the request for breakfast for next morning never got as far as the kitchen! Consequently went to a nice cafe about 3 miles down the road. However we had a meal there at night and that was excellent. Staff were friendly.

Disliked: Staff & service
The staff assured me that i'd be able to get into my room when i arrived later than planned. But they didn't leave the key in the room door, so i wasn't able to get in!! Had to sleep in my car, so not a fantastic experience.
Perfect for an overnight stay & the food in the reataurant was top notch and good value for money. in addition the beer was excellently kept.

Very passable basic room for a very good price. Can't complain for the money it cost. Clean and comfortable enough and friendly staff but the shower wasn't great (broken attachment to the rail) and the coffee at breakfast was undrinkable.
This stopover stay was made perfect by the kindness and friendliness of the member of staff who, on learning that I was going to be late, said they would stay behind and wait until I had arrived. They were so polite and hospitable.
A great little pub, with great selection of ales. Room was a good size, clean. The staff were very friendly as were the locals to the pub. Food was great also. Just one tiny thing. Maybe a blind in the bathroom as i kept thinking people could look in as was on main road.
Nice hotel old B&B floor in room a bit on a angle you have to get used of that if you need the toilet in the night it feels like you drunk
Nice old pub downstairs lovely hand pulled beer
Only 1 negative is that the Wi-Fi and mobile signal is very poor
Great little place to stay, great price great food friendly staff, Breakfast great

A little worn at the edges, but wonderful welcome.
This is a lovely homely village pub, NOT a swanky Country Life establishment. Being a very old building everything is a bit wonky - that is the character. But the room was very warm, the bed was comfortable, the plumbing honked like a steamship but the shower was hot, and everything really was spotlessly clean. The friendly staff could not have been kinder. The chef was off so there was no breakfast but this was explained to me with such good humour I immediately didn't mind. I will certainly stay there again.
