Worthy of a return trip
Short stop over super close to airport. Room was neat and linens were soft. Breakfast buffet provided, but we had to order in food at 6pm Monday night as restaurant was closed?!? Also, ZERO flexibility with after 11am check out. Plus side there is still plenty to do on ground to keep you occupied for the next three hours waiting for your bus. Worth a trip back

Amazing! We were able to check in early and even got an upgrade. So much to do for our one night stay there. From the ice cream social to the theater and aurora discovery center. Rooms were very nice and comfy. We will stay again if we are ever back in Fairbanks

We stayed in an ADA accessible room. Check-in was easy and fast. Every night, there were several fire pits around the outside of the hotel for peolpe to warm up and make smores (we used them every night). We never missed the ice cream social hosted every night. We took advantage of the provided sleds on the back side of the hotel and went down the slope for some slides. The aurora Borealis was easily seen from the hotel and we got woken up by the hotel staff after requesting the aurora borealis wake up call. The front desk staff, speacially Olivia, were very friendly and full of information regarding the best places near town to search for the aurora borealis. As far as ADA accessability, this hotel is the best hotel I have encountered. While other hotels only offer a "one size fits all" shower chair in their accessible bathroom (which unfortunately, does NOT offer the back level of support my son needs), the Pikes Waterfrontfront Lodge accessible bathroom has a built-in full bench in the wall of their accessible roll-in shower. The showers my son took in that Lodge were the most comfortable he's had in his life outside of home.

Unfortunately what could have been a nice stay missed the mark. I booked this one night stay because they had a sauna steam room and also because they mentioned a special northern lights wake up call in which they will let you know if the aurora is out. However, the sauna/steam room was closed during our visit. While I understand things like that happen, failing to mention it on the website or when we called to book that day feels like poor communication at best and it would have been nice to have known that before booking (we booked same day so it wasn’t unknown at the time of booking). As for the northern lights wake up call, we never got one. A guest in line at breakfast informed me about her experience watching them after her wake up call so maybe they just forgot me? To top it all off, while I appreciate the fact that they can accommodate dogs, our room was right next to a laundry room and we heard a lot of noise, doors slamming all night which kept waking said dogs and us up. The washer or dryer running would literally shake the wall and headboard intermittently throughout the night. Overall, this location and property had a lot of potential but missed the mark.

When I go back to visit Fairbanks I'm definitely going to stay at Pikes again. Only thing I would prefer when it snows is having some food options inside the lodge other than vending machine
