Perfection

The George is an absolute joy. From the warm welcome of the staff down to the cosy log burner, the food/drinks and the exquisite rooms. An absolute gem in the heart of Rye, we would highly recommend a stay here if you want to escape the daily grind and just chill and unwind.

Cute little hotel!

What a lovely hotel! Super friendly staff at check in and in the restaurant. We had dinner there as well, and the food was delicious. We kindly got an upgrade as well. Hotel has been beautifully decorated. Lovely room with a patio. Very comfy bed and pillows. Unfortunately no robes and slippers in the room. And no hooks in the bathroom to hang the towels on.

Situated right in the middle of the lovely and picturesque town of Rye The George is a beautifully restored Georgian inn with rooms. The bedrooms are spread about a number of buildings behind the main building and mine was beautiful. A good sized bedroom and a large bathroom with both a large walk in shower and a freestanding rolltop bath. I didn’t eat dinner there but if the cooked breakfast was anything to go by I’m sure the restaurant is good. Only things to be aware of is due to it’s location there are no parking facilities on site. You need to drop luggage off and then park in a public car park a few minutes away. Also due to the age and hodgepodge of buildings making up The George it might not suit those who can’t easily negotiate steps and stairs. However if you want to stay in the heart of Rye in a lovely building I can highly recommend.

Lovely hotel let down by the restaurant service

Very old hotel in lovely town of Rye but refurbished to a high standard. Rooms lovely crisp bed linen, Ren products beautifully pillows and an amazingly helpful booking process as had a few special requests. Restaurant really lets the hotel down though, food average for the price point but the service is almost non existent had to find a waiter to ask for drinks and another one an hour after we sat down to take our orders. The staff need quality restaurant training as nice individuals but not much idea around what’s expected of the concept at that level.

Lovely stay as always..we had a twin room in an annexe off the main building, Cosy, with very comfy beds and also very clean Helpful, friendly staff and delicious breakfast too. Xmas decorations made it feel very festive! Central position in the middle of High Street was great. Will definitely be back & would recommend!
