Nothing compares to relaxing by the sea. While you're in the area, spend an hour or two at Hydropark, 65 kilometres to the northeast.

Hrebinky is 25 kilometres to the southeast and worth your time. Need some more ideas? Kodaky, 25 kilometres to the east of Fastiv, should be on your list.

Want to go and see Former Konyukhovsky House, St Sophia's Church and Lenin Statue? They're all not far from Zhytomyr, 90 kilometres to the west. The Nature Museum and the Regional Museum are also conveniently close and ought to be in your travel plans.

Mountain biking and hiking are both very popular with the locals. These outdoor pastimes will let you see this incredible region from a totally different perspective.

A few hours outside in the fresh air can do wonders for your health. If you're feeling a little frazzled, why not give yourself a break by going cycling or picnicking?

Whether you're flailing around in it, floating on it or racing across it, not much beats spending the day by the water. You can try your hand at various watersports here, such as swimming and canoeing.

Take a look behind the doors of the region's history museums and make the most of everything that they have to offer.

Get to know the area's history by stopping at the nearby fortresses. If a tour guide isn't around, ensure you do some of your own research.

If you enjoy questioning what life is really all about, think about visiting Fastiv's churches, cathedrals and monasteries. While we can't promise you'll find the answer, you're sure to at least find a little peace and quiet.

Would you like to nibble, gnaw, crunch, munch and swig your way through Ukraine? A world of unique flavours awaits you, so put on your stretchiest slacks and bon appétit!

Are you eager to know some of the traditional ingredients that are used here? Prepare to taste onion and carrot in a number of your meals.

Ask one of the locals what dish best sums up the region and solianka (meat soup) will likely be among the first things they point you to. Varenyky (dumplings) is another regional specialty you ought to sink your teeth into.

'Stressed' spelled backwards is 'desserts', and that's not just a coincidence. There's no more delicious way to wave goodbye to your worries than with cottage cheese donuts, a sweet treat often found on dinner tables here.

If you truly want to see the big pitcher, grab the hopportunity to gulp down a beer. The schooner the better! Awful beer puns aside, don't forget to try PPB, one of the most popular local brews.

If the evening calls for something with a bit more of a punch, try mead. Mixed or neat — the bar person will know the tastiest way to have it.

Riesling and pinot gris are wonderful complements to nearly any meal. You needn't be a wine authority to enjoy a tasty drop!

Before you pack up your belongings and say "Do pobačennja", why not spend the last of your holiday allowance and buy yourself some souvenirs of Fastiv?
