We fell in love with Nérac, France and really felt that the Hotel Henri IV was the best possible launching pad for a Southern France Adventure. The hotel is perfectly situated to be able to enjoy the city by foot. It is just a few short blocks from Henri IV’s castle from the 1400’s. We walked in bridges built by the Romans, drove down tree lined roads that Napoleon had trees planted next to to shield his troops from the intense summer sun. A drive into nearby castles left us almost breathless from the intense beauty. And that is just the region.
The hotel was clean, quite, comfortable, well equipped, an updated with slippers, and robes a mini fridge, and free WiFi. The bed was comfortable and the toiletries left us wanting to stay just one more night.
The hotel is a historic building that was completely restored and updated, for ease and comfort. It has however, retained enough of its ancient charm to really be a treat.
The breakfast is very nice and worth paying the little extra for.
